Chapter 978: Calculating Scholar 33

When Ye Qingtong arrived, Tang Wan was just pouring soup into a small porcelain basin.

“Wan Wan, I’m here!” he called from the doorway.

Hearing his voice, Tang Wan quickly set down the ladle and leaned out of the kitchen. “Tong Tong, you’re here? I’m serving the soup—it’ll be ready in a moment.”

A smile immediately spread across Ye Qingtong’s face as he strode over to her side. “Let me do it. It’s hot—you go rest for a bit.”

“Alright then,” Tang Wan agreed, stepping aside.

Ye Qingtong glanced at the pot of tomato and egg soup. It looked rich and fragrant, almost like something from a restaurant. His heart couldn’t help but swell with admiration.

I didn’t expect Wan Wan to be this capable… just looking at it makes you hungry.

Thinking that she had made all this herself, and already feeling hungry, he swallowed unconsciously and quickly finished ladling out the soup before carrying it to the table.

Tang Wan had prepared four dishes and a soup. Though everything was cooked over a simple stove, the presentation was surprisingly appealing.

Handing him the chopsticks, she looked at him expectantly. “Try it.”

“Mm! It looks delicious already. I didn’t expect your cooking to be this good,” Ye Qingtong praised before even tasting anything.

Tang Wan immediately shook her head modestly. “It’s just average. As long as you like it.”

Smiling, Ye Qingtong picked up a piece of greens and put it into his mouth.

The taste…

…was strange.

But seeing the anticipation in Tang Wan’s eyes, he forced himself to swallow it without changing expression. Then he raised his thumb. “Not bad! It’s delicious.”

Seeing this, Tang Wan immediately relaxed.

Although she had changed cooking methods, she had tasted the dishes while cooking—they seemed about the same as before. It looked like, just as she liked Tong Tong’s cooking, Tong Tong also liked hers.

With that thought, her face lit up with satisfaction. “If it’s good, then eat more. You have work in the afternoon—you can’t go hungry.”

“Mm,” Ye Qingtong nodded, then tried the other dishes with cautious hope.

Unfortunately… the taste was consistent.

From appearance alone, the dishes looked even better than those made by his mother, who had cooked for decades. But in reality…

Still, afraid that Tang Wan might feel hurt, he kept his expression steady and continued eating while praising her.

In his heart, however, he had already decided: In the future… I’ll do the cooking.

After the meal, Ye Qingtong took the initiative to wash the dishes.

Meanwhile, Tang Wan said smugly to Little Cutie, “I knew Tong Tong would like it.”

Little Cutie: …

He chewed that first bite noticeably slower…

That didn’t exactly scream “delicious.”

But humans often said one thing and meant another. And besides, when people were in love, their judgment could be… questionable.

Maybe Ye Qingtong liked her so much that even his taste buds had developed a filter.

In any case, there was no need to ruin the host’s good mood right now.
