Chapter 977: Calculating Scholar 32

Seeing her cheeks flushed like rouge, Ye Qingtong couldn’t help but smile. “Alright, then I’ll come over for lunch after work.”

The household he was working for did provide meals, but how could that compare to food personally made by Wan Wan?

Tang Wan hummed softly in agreement. “Then go on, don’t delay your work.”

Inwardly, she thought: In the previous worlds, even if my cooking wasn’t amazing, Tong Tong always found it delicious. In this world… he’ll probably like it too.

It’s time to show off my cooking again.

At that moment, Ye Qingtong’s gaze fell on her lips, and a look of longing appeared in his eyes. After a pause, he said, “I didn’t eat much this morning… I’m afraid I won’t have the energy to work.”

“Huh? Then should I cook something for you now?” Tang Wan asked quickly.

“No,” Ye Qingtong said solemnly. “As long as I kiss you, I’ll have energy.”

Tang Wan: …

So all that just now… was for this?

For a moment, she didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Still, she lowered her head shyly and nodded. “Then… come here.”

The moment she agreed, Ye Qingtong immediately pulled her into his arms.

This time, even though Ahuang saw them close together again, it didn’t bark. After all, its mistress had already said last night that this man wasn’t to be bitten.

After a long while, Ye Qingtong reluctantly let her go, judging that it was about time to return to work. “Then I’ll go first?”

“Mm, go on,” Tang Wan said, her eyes slightly misty.

Seeing her like this, Ye Qingtong had to use all his willpower to suppress the urge to stay. He nodded, then quickly left.

Once he was gone, Tang Wan happily headed into the kitchen.

Little Cutie couldn’t help asking, “Host, what are you planning to do?”

Over the past couple of days, when she was alone, she had mostly eaten plain porridge and pickles. The main reason? She couldn’t cook rice properly without a rice cooker. The one time she tried, she had nearly ruined an entire pot.

Hearing this, Tang Wan replied confidently, “I’ll just stir-fry the vegetables Tong Tong brought.”

Her cooking might not be perfect, but she could at least manage simple dishes.

As for the rice… after the last disaster, she decided to cook it slowly over a small fire this time. Surely she could manage a proper pot now.

With that, Tang Wan began bustling around the kitchen.

Meanwhile, Ye Qingtong had already arrived at the employer’s house and started working diligently.

At noon, when everyone stopped to eat, Ye Qingtong said to the host, “I won’t be eating here today. My fiancée has prepared a meal for me at home.”

Hearing this, someone immediately teased, “Well, well! You’ve already got someone cooking for you!”

“Which girl is it?” another asked.

“Oh, she’s from this village too—Tang Wan,” Ye Qingtong replied deliberately, smiling.

That way, anyone who might have had thoughts about Wan Wan would know she was already spoken for.

At his words, the host was visibly surprised. “You’ve got quite the luck! Tang Wan is the most beautiful girl around here—and you managed to win her over?”

“It’s just luck,” Ye Qingtong said with a grin. “You all eat—I’ll head back first.”

With that, he hurried toward Tang Wan’s house.
