Chapter 966: Calculating Scholar 21

Hearing Ye Qingtong’s words, Father Ye and Mother Ye exchanged a glance.

Seeing their reaction, Ye Qingtong grew even more anxious. “Mother, what are you waiting for? Hurry up and settle the marriage before she changes her mind! Whether I can marry a wife or not depends on how fast you act! That Tang Wan—she’s the most beautiful girl in all the surrounding villages!”

Watching him act so impatiently, Mother Ye couldn’t help twitching her lips. “I know, I know. Good things aren’t afraid of being late. Why are you in such a rush? Do you have so little confidence in yourself?”

Hearing this, Ye Qingtong grinned sheepishly.

At that moment, Father Ye set down his tools and said with a smile, “Since the boy is this eager, you should hurry and go find a matchmaker.”

Mother Ye shot him a look. “Do you need to tell me that?” In truth, she was even more anxious than the two of them.

Without wasting another moment, she returned to her room, changed into a better set of clothes, and headed straight to find the matchmaker in Hou Village.

When Matchmaker Liu heard the news, she immediately laughed. “Ah! Your family really has good taste. That Tang Wan—men from all the nearby villages have their eyes on her. Some have even tried to sound her out, but she’s never agreed. Don’t be fooled by the fact that she has no parents—she’s quite reserved!”

Hearing this, Mother Ye felt a little more at ease. “Exactly! Then I’ll have to trouble you, Matchmaker Liu, to come with me.”

“Haha, for such a happy occasion, of course I’ll go!” Matchmaker Liu replied cheerfully.

The two of them soon headed toward Tang Wan’s house together.

Afraid that Tang Wan might get nervous alone, Ye Qingtong followed along as well, shamelessly tagging behind.

By the time they arrived, Tang Wan had already been informed through Little Cutie. She deliberately pretended to be washing clothes in the courtyard. When she saw them enter, she immediately stopped what she was doing and looked toward Ye Qingtong.

“Wan Wan, don’t be afraid. This is Matchmaker Liu, and this is my mother,” Ye Qingtong quickly introduced.

Hearing this, Tang Wan wiped her hands and stepped forward, her face flushing slightly. In a soft, gentle voice, she greeted them, “Greetings, Aunties.”

Mother Ye was instantly stunned.

My heavens…

No wonder her son, who had always been so picky, suddenly insisted on settling the marriage. This girl… was unbelievably beautiful. She looked almost like a fairy descended to earth.

At the same time, Matchmaker Liu was equally astonished. She had heard of Tang Wan before but had never seen her in person. Her earlier praise had only been polite flattery out of habit—but now, seeing Tang Wan with her own eyes, she realized the girl was far more stunning than she had imagined.

The Ye family had truly struck gold.

With a bright smile, Matchmaker Liu said enthusiastically, “Goodness! I’d heard Miss Tang was beautiful, but I didn’t expect this level of beauty! Even I, an old woman, can’t bear to look away!”

Tang Wan smiled modestly. “Auntie flatters me. I’m nothing special… Please, come inside and have a seat.”

Matchmaker Liu laughed. “If you’re ‘nothing special,’ then wouldn’t that make all the girls in these villages plain as wood?”

With that, she followed Mother Ye into the house.

Seeing that Tang Wan had managed to keep the household neat and orderly all by herself, Mother Ye’s impression of her improved even further.

Her son’s judgment really was good.

What she didn’t know, however, was that Ye Qingtong had only known Tang Wan for a few days.
