Chapter 955: Calculating Scholar 10
Seeing the discomfort on Tang Wan’s face, Li Fuze nodded and stepped forward, intending to help her. Tang Wan immediately avoided him without a trace, then smiled lightly. “Brother Afu, Auntie is probably still waiting for you to go back for dinner. You should head back first—I’ll be fine.”
As she spoke, she quickly made her way toward her courtyard gate. She had no intention of letting that scumbag touch her.
Seeing this, Li Fuze could only say, “Alright. If anything happens, just call out in the yard—I’ll come over immediately.”
“Mm, thank you, Brother Afu,” Tang Wan replied, nodding. Then she hurried inside, shut the courtyard door, and firmly slid the latch into place.
The moment the door was closed, the smile on her face vanished. She winced in pain and carefully walked toward the house on her heels.
It hurt like hell.
After entering the room, Tang Wan immediately said, “Little Cutie, is there any medicine I can exchange for?”
“Yes, host! You can get a bottle of healing spray for just 10 points,” Little Cutie replied quickly.
“Then hurry up,” Tang Wan said without hesitation.
“Okay!”
In the next instant, a small bottle of spray appeared in her hand.
Tang Wan quickly took off her shoes and socks, cleaned her feet, and sprayed the medicine onto the blistered soles. Only after that did she lie down on the bed, completely exhausted.
Meanwhile, Ye Qingtong didn’t head back right away. Instead, he led the buffalo past the farmland near the village. When he spotted an aunt he knew, he immediately approached her with a friendly smile.
“Aunt Zhou, not heading back to eat yet?” he called out.
Aunt Zhou smiled simply and nodded. “Just about to go back. Qingtong, what brings you to our village? Something up?”
Ye Qingtong replied casually, “Oh, I just brought a girl from your village back. Her name’s Tang Wan. She hurt her foot while gathering herbs in the mountains and couldn’t make it back on her own.”
He paused briefly before adding, “I heard she has no family left. Quite pitiful. If I hadn’t happened to be hunting nearby, she might’ve run into wolves or even tigers.”
Women loved to gossip, and their words were rarely restrained. As soon as Aunt Zhou heard this, she sighed.
“That’s true. Old Tang and his wife passed away early, leaving behind such a pretty girl. You don’t know—those idle troublemakers around the village have been eyeing her for a long time. If it weren’t for us neighbors looking out for her, and for the dog she keeps, she might’ve already been bullied.”
Hearing this, Ye Qingtong’s expression turned cold.
So there were still people with ill intentions toward her?
Then again… with her beauty and charm, even he had the thought of taking her home as a wife. It was only natural others would think the same.
“Is that so? Then she really hasn’t had it easy,” Ye Qingtong said.
After a pause, he asked, “Did her parents ever arrange a marriage for her before they passed?”
“How could they?” Aunt Zhou replied with a slight sigh. “Her father was half-blind, and her mother was mute. Who would’ve dared to arrange a marriage with that family? Who would’ve thought a blind man and a mute woman could give birth to such a beautiful girl?”
She then added, “But the Li family next door has always been close to her and takes care of her. I reckon they have that kind of intention.”
Ye Qingtong naturally understood what she meant.
Thinking of Li Fuze, whom he had just met, his gaze turned cold.
