Chapter 953: Calculating Scholar 8

As he held her soft, fragrant body again, Ye Qingtong’s arms tightened instinctively.

The next moment, he gave Tang Wan a simple, gentle smile. “Shall we go?”

“Mm.” Tang Wan nodded.

Then Ye Qingtong carried her and began walking down the mountain step by step.

Holding someone in his arms made the descent far less convenient. He couldn’t always use his hands to steady himself on nearby branches, which made the path more difficult and unstable.

But Ye Qingtong didn’t feel tired at all.

Instead, a thought rose uncontrollably in his mind—if only he could hold her like this for a lifetime.

This girl… he truly liked her.

At this moment, Little Cutie could no longer hold back.

“Host, you’ve been tricked!” it said, clearly displeased.

As the host’s loyal system, it could tolerate her getting close to the villain—but seeing the villain scheme against her like this made it very unhappy.

Noticing its tone, Tang Wan asked, “What’s wrong?”

“He kicked your shoe down the mountain! That guy is full of schemes!” Little Cutie said angrily.

Tang Wan paused.

“You’re saying… Tong Tong deliberately kicked my shoe away?” she asked in surprise.

Honestly, if Little Cutie hadn’t pointed it out, she wouldn’t have suspected him at all. She had really thought the shoe had slipped down the slope by accident.

After all, Red Mountain was steep—it wouldn’t have been strange.

But she hadn’t expected it to be Ye Qingtong’s doing.

“Yes! He’s already this calculating when you’ve just met. Who knows what he’ll do later? You need to be careful around this villain!” Little Cutie warned seriously.

But as soon as it finished speaking, Tang Wan’s eyes lit up.

“Well done!”

Little Cutie froze.

“Host, what are you thinking? You’ve clearly been tricked!” it protested.

Tang Wan smiled. “I know. But if he didn’t like me, would he go through all that trouble just to set this up?”

“Would he insist on carrying me down the mountain?”

Hadn’t his favorability already reached fifty?

Little Cutie fell silent.

The descent took nearly an hour and a half.

By the time they finally reached the foot of the mountain, Ye Qingtong reluctantly set Tang Wan down.

Then he supported her arm and said, “Wait a moment. I’ll wrap your feet before we go.”

Without hesitation, he tore a strip from his own clothing.

He crouched in front of her and naturally took her foot in his hand.

Tang Wan instinctively shrank back for a moment, then slowly relaxed and let him hold it.

Ye Qingtong couldn’t help but smile to himself as he carefully wrapped her foot with the cloth.

Once he was done, he stood up. “Alright. I’ll help you back.”

“When we reach the village entrance, I’ll borrow an ox cart to take you home.”

“Mm!” Tang Wan looked at him gratefully.

There was even a faint trace of admiration and affection in her eyes.

That look warmed Ye Qingtong’s heart.

He gave a light cough, then supported her with one hand while carrying both baskets with the other, walking slowly forward.

When they reached the village entrance, they happened to run into a few villagers returning from farm work.

Spotting an old man leading a cow, Ye Qingtong said, “Wait here for me. I’ll go borrow the ox.”

“Okay!” Tang Wan nodded obediently.

As Ye Qingtong walked toward the old man, Tang Wan narrowed her eyes slightly and said to Little Cutie, “Looks like in this world… I’ll get to enjoy being pursued by Tong Tong again.”

Heh.

Not bad at all.
