Chapter 903: Ruler of Esports 17

Hearing Mother Tang’s concern, Fan Tong explained patiently, “Don’t worry, Auntie. Our club provides full accommodation and meals. Everyone has their own room, and there’s even a cook to take care of daily meals.”

“That’s good,” Mother Tang said with visible relief.

No wonder the Lin family had been so proud lately. She hadn’t expected the待遇 to be this good.

Still, another concern quickly surfaced. Wan Wan was still in her final year of high school—if she wasn’t competing yet, was it really appropriate to receive such a high salary?

Thinking this, Mother Tang frowned slightly, her gaze turning hesitant.

Sensing it, Fan Tong asked gently, “Auntie, is there anything else you’re worried about? You can just ask.”

“It’s like this,” she said after a pause. “Wan Wan is still in her senior year. She won’t be able to compete for now, but you’re still offering such a high salary… isn’t that a bit inappropriate?”

Fan Tong couldn’t help but smile.

“Auntie, you’re overthinking it,” he reassured her. “We don’t have competitions every month. Most of the time is spent training. As long as Wan Wan trains properly at home and maintains her level, there’s no issue. Besides, we’re signing her now because she’s strong—we don’t want other teams to recruit her first. Even if she can’t compete for the time being, it doesn’t matter.”

“That’s good,” Mother Tang said, finally letting out a breath of relief.

Just then, Tang Wan came out of the kitchen.

Seeing her, Mother Tang immediately stood up. “Wan Wan, you two keep chatting. I’ll go cook. Xiao Tong, stay for dinner tonight!”

“Then I won’t stand on ceremony,” Fan Tong replied with a smile.

“Of course not,” Mother Tang said warmly before heading back into the kitchen.

“Did you finish talking with my mom?” Tang Wan asked as she sat down.

“Mm.” Fan Tong nodded.

His gaze then fell on a report card lying on the coffee table.

It was Tang Wan’s latest monthly exam result.

Less than 400.

Fan Tong’s eyebrows twitched slightly.

With those scores… getting into Jinda would be extremely difficult. Their admission cutoff had never dropped below 600.

Noticing where he was looking, Tang Wan’s face flushed instantly. She quickly grabbed the report card.

“That one doesn’t count,” she said hastily. “I usually score around 600. This time… I wasn’t feeling well, so I left a lot of questions unfinished.”

Seeing her embarrassed expression, Fan Tong found it unexpectedly amusing.

He hadn’t even said anything—yet she looked so nervous.

Still, for some reason, he found it rather… endearing.

With a soft chuckle, he nodded. “Alright. Do your best next time. If there’s anything you don’t understand, just ask me.”

“Mm.” Tang Wan nodded obediently.

Half an hour later, Mother Tang brought out the dishes.

During dinner, Fan Tong didn’t hold back on praising Tang Wan—her academic potential, her gaming talent—everything. Mother Tang was so pleased that she couldn’t stop smiling.

After all, no parent disliked hearing their child being praised.

After the meal, Fan Tong checked the time and stood up.

“Wan Wan, Auntie, I’ll be heading back now.”

“Alright, take care on the way,” Mother Tang said with a smile.

“Thank you for the hospitality, Auntie.”

He waved goodbye before leaving.

After he was gone, Mother Tang turned to Tang Wan, curiosity written all over her face.

“Wan Wan… when did you get so good at games?”

Tang Wan’s eyes flickered slightly before she replied without hesitation, “Isn’t it because of Lin Haiyang? If he can become a professional player, why can’t I? So this past month, I practiced really hard.”

She paused briefly, then added with a small smile, “Turns out… the game is actually quite simple.”
