Chapter 896: Ruler of Esports 10

The next morning, when Tang Wan woke up, Mother Tang had already prepared breakfast and left for work. Seeing the neatly arranged meal on the table, Tang Wan’s expression softened slightly, but her resolve only grew stronger.

She had to earn her first pot of gold as soon as possible and get her mother to the hospital for a full check-up.

Working like this day after day, year after year—how long could her body possibly hold on?

After breakfast, Tang Wan headed to school.

It was already the second semester of senior year, with less than four months remaining before the college entrance examination. The original host’s recent monthly exam results had been poor, so as soon as she arrived at school, she was called into the office by her homeroom teacher.

“Tang Wan, what’s been going on with you lately?” the teacher asked, frowning slightly. “Your grades have been dropping. Is something wrong at home?”

Tang Wan shook her head calmly. “I’m sorry, teacher. I wasn’t feeling well during the last exam, so it affected my performance. That’s why the results were so bad. I’ll definitely do better next time.”

The teacher looked at her with some suspicion. “Really?”

“Yes. Don’t worry—I’ll focus and do well in the next exam,” Tang Wan replied steadily.

After a brief pause, the teacher nodded. Situations like this weren’t uncommon. “Alright. Just remember, your health comes first. If you have any difficulties, tell me. Don’t let anything delay your future.”

“Thank you, teacher.”

“Go back to class.”

“Okay.”

Back in the classroom, her deskmate looked at her hesitantly before asking in a low voice, “Wan Wan… the teacher didn’t scold you, right?”

Tang Wan shook her head lightly. “No. She was just concerned about my grades.”

“That’s good,” her deskmate said, visibly relieved. She didn’t bring up Lin Haiyang at all.

Tang Wan sat down and began focusing on the lesson.

For her, the third-year curriculum was simple. Still, she maintained the appearance of listening attentively, following along like any diligent student. If she behaved as distracted as the original host had before, the teacher would definitely call her in again.

Soon, the weekend arrived.

Normally, senior students would have extra classes, but since the monthly exams had just ended, they were given two days off.

Knowing that Fan Tong would arrive at ten in the morning, Tang Wan told her mother she was going to study with classmates. Then she took a bus to the station and waited at the exit.

About ten minutes later, she spotted him immediately.

Tall—around 1.8 meters—with fair skin and a relaxed posture, a backpack slung casually over one shoulder.

She raised her hand and called out, “Fan Tong—I’m here!”

She had almost called him “Tong Tong,” but quickly corrected herself.

Hearing her voice, Fan Tong turned. The moment he saw her, his eyes lit up, and a bright smile appeared on his face as he walked over.

“Thanks for coming to pick me up… Wan Wan,” he said naturally, his tone already familiar.

Tang Wan paused for a brief second.

This Tong Tong… seems even less reserved than I am.

But she didn’t mind at all.

After leaving the station, Fan Tong leaned slightly closer and said in a lowered voice, “I’ve already booked a hotel. Let’s head there first. We can talk about the team over lunch.”

“Okay,” Tang Wan agreed.

She deliberately put on a shy expression, perfectly playing the part of a high school girl meeting an online acquaintance for the first time—nervous, a little awkward, and slightly embarrassed.

Seeing this, Fan Tong’s tone unconsciously softened. Along the way, he kept bringing up small topics to keep the conversation going, clearly trying to ease her tension and avoid any awkward silence.

Noticing his thoughtfulness, Tang Wan gradually “relaxed,” letting her demeanor soften little by little, as if she were slowly growing more comfortable around him.
