Chapter 868: The Psychic Master 32

After leaving the temple with newly obtained talismans for protection and warding off evil, both Wu Jingwen and Zhou Fang finally felt a little more at ease. The lingering chill from the hotel seemed to have faded slightly, and with that sense of reassurance, they decided to return to school to collect their belongings before heading home.

By the time they arrived, it was already evening. The campus was quiet, with only a few scattered students passing by. But the moment Wu Jingwen stepped through the gates, an uneasy feeling crept over her again.

Especially when they passed near the old campus buildings.

The air there felt… wrong.

Cold.

Oppressive.

As if something unseen was watching.

Wu Jingwen instinctively grabbed Zhou Fang’s arm, her voice trembling. “Brother Fang… I think I’m seeing things again. There are… shadows everywhere.”

Zhou Fang stiffened. “What?”

If this had happened before the hotel incident, he might have dismissed it as her imagination—or another prank. But now, after confirming that someone had indeed died in that room…

He wasn’t so sure anymore.

Wu Jingwen raised a shaky hand and pointed toward one of the teaching buildings nearby. “There… there’s a student jumping off the building!”

Her voice quivered as she spoke.

Zhou Fang felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand up instantly.

Because he knew—

That building did have a history.

A student had once jumped to their death from there.

He swallowed, then forced himself to stay calm. “Jingwen… could it be that you’ve awakened some kind of yin-yang sight?” he asked cautiously.

Wu Jingwen shivered, her face paling further. “You mean… I can see ghosts now? Brother Fang, what do I do?”

“Don’t panic,” Zhou Fang said quickly, steadying his tone. “Let’s go home first. And if you see anything… just pretend you didn’t. Don’t react.”

Wu Jingwen nodded, though fear still lingered in her eyes. “Okay…”

They returned home without further incident.

But that night—

The peace didn’t last.

Wu Jingwen soon realized that the female ghost from the hotel… had followed her back.

The moment she sensed it, her entire body went cold. Her hands trembled as she grabbed her phone and tried to call Zhou Fang—but no matter how many times she dialed, the call wouldn’t go through.

Panic surged.

She rushed to the door of her room and tried to open it—

Locked.

She pounded against it desperately.

“Dad! Mom! Help me!” she cried, her voice breaking with fear.

Fortunately, although Mother He despised the He family, she still carried with her items made by them—prayer beads and protective talismans.

And earlier, when Wu Jingwen returned home, her expression had been clearly off. Thinking her daughter might be upset over the college entrance exam, Mother He had already been worried.

Hearing the commotion now, she rushed over immediately.

The moment she approached—

The female ghost vanished.

When she opened the door, she found Wu Jingwen collapsed on the floor, her body trembling, her face pale with terror.

“Jingwen! What happened?” Mother He asked urgently, hurrying to her side.

The moment Wu Jingwen saw her, she broke down and threw herself into her arms. “Mom! I saw a ghost! She’s following me! She wants to kill me—what do I do?!”

Mother He’s expression changed instantly.

If she had never been part of the He family, she might have dismissed this as fear, imagination, or even a mental breakdown.

But she knew better.

Wu Jingwen carried the same blood.

The blood of the He family.

If she was seeing ghosts now…

Then it meant one thing.

Her psychic ability had awakened.

And that realization terrified her far more than the ghost itself.

Because she knew exactly what it meant for a girl in the He family to awaken that ability.

The best-case scenario—

She would be taken back and trained.

The worst—

She would be reduced to nothing more than a tool. A means to produce the next generation.

Countless thoughts flashed through her mind in an instant, each one heavier than the last.

Taking a deep breath, she forced herself to remain calm and asked, “Jingwen… when did you start seeing ghosts?”

“Yesterday!” Wu Jingwen replied immediately, gripping her arm tightly. “Mom, do you believe me?”

“Of course I do,” Mother He said without hesitation, her voice steady despite the turmoil in her heart. “You have the blood of a psychic. It’s not strange that you can see ghosts.”

What surprised her, however, was something else.

She hadn’t expected this awakening to come so late.

And from what she could tell…

Her daughter’s ability was no weaker than He Tongyang’s.
