Chapter 867: The Psychic Master 31

Wu Jingwen’s pupils shrank violently, her entire body trembling as she stared at the bathtub. “You… you didn’t see it?” she asked, her voice shaking. “There’s a woman in there… covered in blood. Her wrists are cut… and she’s staring at us…”

Zhou Fang frowned and glanced at the bathtub again, his expression turning puzzled. “No,” he said firmly. “There’s nothing there.”

“How is that possible?” Wu Jingwen’s voice rose, her disbelief clear. “She’s right there! Don’t tell me… I saw a ghost?!”

Zhou Fang’s brows furrowed even deeper. “You’re overthinking it,” he replied. “I didn’t see anything. And besides… how could there be ghosts in this world?”

But even as he said that, doubt crept into his mind.

What’s going on with Jingwen?

Could she be joking again, trying to scare him?

After all, she had done something similar before.

Seeing that he clearly didn’t believe her, Wu Jingwen’s eyes reddened instantly. She was on the verge of tears. “I’m not lying to you! There really is a woman there!”

The moment the words left her mouth, the “woman” in the bathtub slowly rose.

Her blood-soaked body drifted upward, her head tilting unnaturally as she bared a twisted grin directly at Wu Jingwen.

“Ahhh—!”

Wu Jingwen screamed, her entire body going cold as she turned and ran out of the bathroom in panic.

Zhou Fang hurried after her. “Jingwen! What’s wrong with you?” he called out, his tone growing impatient. “Even if you’re joking, there should be a limit!”

“I’m not joking!” Wu Jingwen cried, her hands shaking as she fumbled to put on her clothes, her entire body still trembling uncontrollably.

This time, Zhou Fang didn’t immediately dismiss her words.

Looking at her pale face and terrified expression, it was clear she wasn’t pretending. And considering what had happened between them the night before, it didn’t make sense for her to lie about something like this.

His expression gradually turned serious.

After a moment, he quietly got dressed as well. Without saying much more, the two of them checked out of the room and headed downstairs.

At the front desk, Zhou Fang slipped two hundred yuan across the counter and asked in a low voice, “Has anything… happened in the room we stayed in before?”

The receptionist’s expression changed instantly.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she said quickly, her tone defensive.

Zhou Fang immediately raised a hand in reassurance. “Don’t worry, we’re not here to cause trouble. We’re just interested in… supernatural stories. We came because of rumors online, but nothing unusual happened, so we were wondering if those stories were fake.”

Hearing this, the receptionist visibly relaxed. She took the money, glanced around cautiously, then leaned in and lowered her voice.

“You can’t tell anyone I said this,” she whispered. “And you didn’t bring any recording devices, right?”

“Of course not,” Zhou Fang replied without hesitation.

Only then did she continue. “A girl once killed herself in that room after a breakup. But don’t worry—we’ve already had a master cleanse the place. There shouldn’t be any problems now.”

Zhou Fang’s heart skipped slightly at her words.

“Got it. Thank you,” he said.

“It’s nothing,” the receptionist replied. “Just don’t spread it around.”

With that, Zhou Fang took Wu Jingwen’s hand and led her out of the hotel.

Outside, the sun was blazing, its heat almost oppressive. But even standing under such strong sunlight, both of them still felt an unnatural chill clinging to their bodies.

It wasn’t until they had stood there for a while, letting the sunlight soak into them, that Zhou Fang finally turned to her with a serious expression.

“Jingwen… did you really see her? The woman in the bathtub?”

Wu Jingwen nodded stiffly, her face still pale. “Yes. I swear… I really saw her.”

Zhou Fang took a deep breath, his expression darkening.

“Then let’s go to a temple,” he said decisively. “It might sound strange, but… maybe what you saw was real.”

Hearing this, Wu Jingwen finally felt a bit of relief.

At least now—

He believed her.

“Okay,” she said quickly, nodding.

Without returning home, the two of them headed straight toward a well-known temple nearby.
