Chapter 860: The Psychic Master 24

“Because I don’t want this filthy bloodline to continue.”

When He Tongyang said this, his expression turned cold, his voice carrying a sharp edge that hadn’t appeared before.

“You know what the He family has done over the years to preserve their psychic bloodline, don’t you?”

There was no hesitation in his tone.

From the moment he was born, that very blood had been the source of everything—his parents’ rejection, the fear and distance of others, the twisted expectations placed upon him. People admired his talent, yet feared what he represented.

And behind it all…

Was something far darker.

How many children, born from those same practices, had been quietly discarded because they were “imperfect”?

How many lives had been erased before they even began?

This so-called “pure bloodline” was nothing but something rotten at its core.

“There’s no need for something like that to continue,” he said finally.

Tang Wan was stunned.

She hadn’t expected that, deep down, he already held the desire to completely sever the He family’s legacy.

For a moment, she didn’t know what to say—but then she stepped closer, her expression turning serious.

“I know… some of it,” she said. “But the He family got it wrong from the very beginning. Their psychic bloodline didn’t come from what they think. It originated from me—no… from Tang Wan. It had very little to do with He Cheng. What they’ve been doing all these years… is completely misguided.”

She paused briefly before continuing, her voice softening.

“And your blood isn’t dirty. You didn’t do anything wrong. The fault lies with the people who made those decisions—not you. You don’t need to belittle yourself.”

Her gaze rested on him, steady and sincere.

“In my eyes, you’re the cleanest person there is.”

Then, almost without thinking, she added—

“And if you really married someone else… I’d probably be miserable.”

He Tongyang froze.

“…Really?” he asked, his voice quieter now.

“Of course,” Tang Wan replied, smiling lightly. “After all, I like Tongtong the most.”

As the words fell, she drifted closer, closing the distance between them. Then, with a gentle motion, she leaned forward and pressed a light kiss against his forehead.

He Tongyang’s mind went blank.

For a brief second, everything stopped.

She… kissed him?

Wanwan kissed him?

“Wanwan, you—” he started, his voice unsteady.

In all these years, aside from the unavoidable moments of privacy, they had almost never been apart. And yet, this was the first time anything like this had happened.

Seeing him flustered, Tang Wan immediately tilted her head, her expression shifting into something slightly hurt.

“What’s wrong?” she asked softly. “Do you not like it when I do that? But you just said you like me… or is it because you think I’m too old? Or because you still see me as an ancestor?”

There was a faint trace of grievance in her tone.

He Tongyang panicked instantly.

“No! That’s not it!” he said quickly. “I like it—I really do!”

The words came out faster than he could think, his composure slipping for once.

Tang Wan’s lips curved into a smile.

“But… I really am hundreds of years older than you,” she said, pretending to hesitate. “Wouldn’t that be strange?”

“Not at all!” He Tongyang replied immediately. “You look like you’re eighteen. There’s nothing old about you. You… suit me perfectly.”

The moment the words left his mouth, he froze.

His face flushed instantly, the redness spreading all the way to his ears.

Tang Wan couldn’t hold back her laughter.

“Ah, Tongtong… why are you so cute?” she teased.

He Tongyang finally snapped out of it, letting out a quiet breath.

Was she doing this on purpose?

Tang Wan, however, quickly straightened, her tone turning serious again.

“Besides, you’re right. I don’t think I’m old at all,” she said confidently. “Just look at me—my face, the way I play games… what kind of ‘old ancestor’ acts like that?”

He Tongyang couldn’t help but smile faintly.

“Mm. Wanwan is right. You’re not old at all.”

After a brief pause, he looked at her again—this time more steadily.

“So… you’ll stay with me, right?” he asked. “And you… like me too?”
