Chapter 859: The Psychic Master 23

Hearing Tang Wan’s teasing question, He Tongyang’s heart sank slightly. For a brief moment, something tense flickered in his chest, but he quickly suppressed it and replied, “No. I don’t like them.”

“You don’t like them?” Tang Wan raised a brow, her tone light but probing. “Then what kind of girl does Tongtong like? You’re already eighteen—it’s about time you started thinking about relationships.”

At those words, He Tongyang frowned faintly. His gaze lingered on her, as if something had suddenly clicked in his mind. After a brief pause, he said, his voice lower than before, “Someone like Wanwan.”

Tang Wan’s eyes widened slightly, then curved into a bright smile. “Oh? So Tongtong uses me as the standard? That makes me very happy.” She tilted her head slightly, her tone softening. “It’s just a pity… I’m a ghost now. If I were human, I would definitely be with you. After all, I really like Tongtong.”

Her words were deliberate.

On the surface, they sounded light and teasing—but beneath them, they carried intent.

She needed him to realize that what she felt for him was different. At the same time, she needed to gently guide him to recognize his own feelings.

His favorability was already high enough.

All that remained… was clarity.

He Tongyang, however, didn’t see through her plan at all.

At that moment, his entire mind was occupied by her words.

If I were human, I would be with you.

His heart stirred uncontrollably.

But just as quickly, he forced himself to calm down.

She had said similar things before—calling him cute, saying she liked him. Back then, it had always felt like the casual affection of someone older toward someone younger.

But now…

Something was different.

After four years of being together day and night, what he felt for her had long since changed. What began as dependence had quietly deepened into something he could no longer ignore.

He had simply never dared to say it.

After all, if she still saw herself as his “elder”… then his feelings would only seem inappropriate.

And worse—

She might leave.

But now, she had said something else.

If she were human, she would be with him.

Then… could he test it?

He looked at her carefully, his voice steady but carrying a hidden tension. “If Wanwan isn’t human… would you still want to be with me?”

Tang Wan didn’t hesitate.

“Of course I would,” she said immediately. “Whether I’m human or a ghost, I want to stay with Tongtong. Forever.”

The answer came without pause.

For a moment, He Tongyang felt something surge through him—warm, overwhelming.

Joy.

But outwardly, he remained composed, as if nothing had changed.

“Me too,” he said calmly. “No matter what you are… I just want to be with you.”

Only the faint redness at the tips of his ears betrayed him.

Tang Wan’s heart lifted at his words, but she quickly suppressed her reaction. Instead, she tilted her head and asked, almost casually, “But what if you meet someone you like in the future?”

“No,” he replied immediately.

The answer came too fast.

“Why not?” Tang Wan pressed.

He Tongyang paused, his lips tightening slightly. Then he looked at her directly, his gaze steady and serious.

“Because I won’t like anyone else,” he said. “Except Wanwan.”

The words were simple.

But they landed like a confession.

Tang Wan hadn’t expected him to be this direct.

Still, she quickly composed herself, deliberately holding back her reaction.

“Even if that’s how you feel now,” she said softly, “don’t forget—you’re human. Sooner or later, you’ll have to get married… have a family.”

She let out a faint sigh, as if it were an unavoidable reality.

“I won’t get married,” He Tongyang replied instantly.

This time, even faster than before.

Tang Wan blinked, genuinely surprised. “Why would you think that?"
