Chapter 852: The Psychic Master 16

After his lips twitched for a moment, Old Master He quickly turned to the servant beside him. “Did you hear that? Hurry and prepare everything!”

The servant looked completely overwhelmed.

She hadn’t even managed to remember half of the dishes He Tongyang had listed—how was she supposed to prepare them all?

But under Old Master He’s stern gaze, she didn’t dare hesitate. “Y-Yes, Master!” she replied, nodding quickly before hurrying off.

Old Master He then turned back to He Tongyang, his expression turning cautious again. “Tongyang… did the ancestor mention which one of our ancestors she is?”

He Tongyang glanced at Tang Wan before answering, “Wanwan said she’s the ancestor…”

“The ancestor?” Old Master He frowned immediately. “But the He family’s founding ancestor is He Cheng. There’s no one named Wanwan in the records.”

It wasn’t surprising that neither he nor He Tongyang knew.

After all, back then, He Cheng had deliberately erased nearly all traces of Tang Wan from the family records before his death, afraid that future generations would uncover the truth about his origins.

Hearing this, He Tongyang turned toward Tang Wan with an innocent, puzzled expression. “Wanwan, Grandpa doesn’t know.”

Tang Wan let out a soft snort. “Of course he doesn’t. That ungrateful brat erased all my records. Just tell him to offer the food to the tablet of the Tang family.”

The moment the words left her mouth, she regretted it.

Great.

Wasn’t she just digging herself deeper into the “ancestor” role?

If this continued, He Tongyang would only become more certain that she was his ancestor. And once that perception solidified, how could anything else develop?

Unless someone had something seriously wrong with their head, who would develop romantic feelings toward their own ancestor?

Tang Wan silently cursed herself.

This situation was getting worse.

Meanwhile, the moment Tang Wan mentioned “He Tang,” He Tongyang immediately understood.

His gaze darkened slightly, a strange, inexplicable discomfort rising in his chest.

But he suppressed it.

Turning back to Old Master He, he said calmly, “Grandpa, Wanwan said to offer the food to He Tang.”

Both Old Master He and Father He were stunned.

He Tang?

That name barely appeared in the family genealogy. Every year during ancestral rites, she was only included incidentally alongside He Cheng’s memorial tablet.

And yet—

Now, she had appeared in person.

The most mysterious figure in the entire lineage.

Old Master He quickly recovered and nodded with respect. “Understood. Please wait, Old Ancestor. The offerings will be prepared shortly.”

Tang Wan, however, slumped back in her chair, her expression utterly lifeless.

Wonderful.

She had just raised the difficulty of her own situation to nightmare level.

If she didn’t fix this identity problem soon, this mission was going to fail.

He Tongyang noticed her expression and grew slightly puzzled.

This ancestor… didn’t seem very happy.

Was it because she wasn’t satisfied with the arrangements?

Thinking this, he decided that after going upstairs later, he would ask her personally what she wanted.

With that in mind, he quickly finished his meal.

After politely excusing himself to Old Master He, he turned and headed upstairs.

Father He watched him leave, irritation flashing across his face at being ignored once again.

But the thought of the unseen ancestor constantly following He Tongyang made him both uneasy and strangely relieved.

What was so great about having a psychic constitution?

Dealing with ghosts every day—was that even a life for a normal person?

Sooner or later, that boy would destroy himself.

Humph.
