Chapter 850: The Psychic Master 14

From that point on, Tang Wan simply waited for He Tongyang to recover.

That night, while keeping watch over him, she connected to the star network through the system. Games, movies, random browsing—she passed the entire night without even noticing how quickly time slipped by.

When morning came, He Tongyang slowly woke up.

At first, there was only confusion.

He frowned slightly as he sat up, pressing a hand to his head.

Fragments of memory began to surface.

He remembered suppressing a powerful evil spirit… remembered losing consciousness… remembered striking his head against something sharp before everything went black.

So he had already been brought back to the He residence?

Just as he was piecing everything together, a voice sounded beside him—familiar, yet strange.

“Tongtong, you’re awake? Did you sleep well?”

Tang Wan watched him closely, noting every subtle shift in his expression—the furrowed brows, the absent-minded touches to his head, the thoughtful look in his eyes.

It seemed her hundred points had not been wasted.

He Tongyang looked up at her.

For a brief moment, he froze.

His lips parted slightly, his gaze fixed on her as recognition flickered beneath the surface.

“You… you are…”

The image in his mind overlapped with reality.

The “ancestor” who had frightened him. The same person who had later comforted him, stayed by his side, and protected him through the night.

But something didn’t add up.

Since childhood, he had been able to see things others couldn’t. He had visited the ancestral hall countless times, yet he had never once seen the spirit of any He family ancestor.

So who exactly was she?

Tang Wan, however, pretended not to notice anything.

With a gentle, almost indulgent expression, she said softly, “What’s wrong, Tongtong? Why are you dazed? Did you have another nightmare? Don’t be afraid—I’m here.”

Her tone was warm and reassuring, as if nothing had changed.

Hearing her words, He Tongyang’s eyes flickered.

He couldn’t help recalling what she had said to him the previous day in the toy room—that no matter what he became, she would never abandon him… that she would always stay by his side.

A faint warmth spread through his chest.

But at the same time, a thought formed.

For now… it would be better not to reveal that he had recovered.

Until he figured out who she really was.

So he lowered his guard and put on an innocent expression.

“Mm… I dreamed of a big monster bullying me,” he said softly. “But Wanwan chased it away.”

Tang Wan: …

So he had recovered—and was pretending not to?

Interesting.

Then let’s see who plays this game better.

The next moment, Tang Wan stepped forward and wrapped her arms around him, her embrace gentle yet firm. She patted his back softly as she said, “Don’t be afraid, Tongtong. As long as I’m here, no ghost or monster can hurt you.”

Caught off guard by her sudden closeness, He Tongyang stiffened slightly.

A faint flush crept up his ears.

And yet… strangely, he didn’t resist.

Being protected like this—it felt reassuring in a way he had never experienced before.

Something the He family had never given him.

After a moment, Tang Wan released him and said casually, “Alright, go wash up. Then we’ll eat.”

“Mm.” He nodded, his tone slightly awkward.

He quickly got out of bed and headed toward the bathroom.

Standing in front of the sink, he picked up his toothbrush and squeezed toothpaste onto it out of habit. Just as he was about to begin, Tang Wan’s voice came again, bright and encouraging.

“Wow! Tongtong is amazing! You learned how to brush your teeth so quickly!”

She even made a small cheering gesture, as if praising a child.

He Tongyang’s hand paused mid-motion.

He wasn’t actually a three-year-old.

Being praised like this… felt oddly uncomfortable.

And yet, he still forced himself to maintain the act, pretending to enjoy her encouragement.
