Chapter 1802: Unlucky Heiress (70)
She couldn't exactly say it outright. Tang Yi was her daughter, and Guoguo was too.
She had no intention of revealing the miraculous properties of the Buddhist bead bracelets.
Even though Tang Yi was her adopted daughter, she still loved and cared for her. But the relationship between the two girls clearly wasn't good. If she revealed something this important, who knew whether Guoguo might end up in danger in the future?
Call her selfish, call her biased toward Guoguo if they wanted.
Tang Yongbo also remained silent, obviously agreeing with Lin Yinghui. He had no intention of telling Tang Yi the truth.
With Tang Yi's current attitude and her obvious dislike toward Guoguo, he felt uncomfortable as well. Thinking about it, since Guoguo was born, she had never really enjoyed much of their love and affection at home.
Tang Yongbo stopped talking and immersed himself in the calligraphy copybook Tang Guo had brought him, studying it with great interest.
In Tang Yi's impression, Tang Yongbo had many hobbies, especially calligraphy, paintings, antiques, and such. There was even a large room in the villa dedicated to housing his collection.
So when Tang Yongbo stopped speaking and focused on the copybook, she wasn't surprised in the slightest. She failed to notice that he was actually upset, but unwilling to blame her, and was quietly stewing in his own frustration.
“Dad, what do you want to eat for lunch? I'll bring it over for you,” Tang Guo asked from beside the bed.
She had understood the meaning behind the couple's earlier words. If Tang Yi had listened to them and chosen to wear the Buddhist beads, then if something really happened in the future, even if the couple said nothing, there would still always be a thorn in their hearts.
In their eyes, Tang Yi merely had a bit of temper and some pride. She wasn't a bad person.
They had no idea that several seemingly casual wishes she had made in secret had brought so much suffering to this family.
Now that Tang Yi had refused to wear the beads, whatever happened in the future would have nothing to do with her.
That was exactly what Tang Guo wanted.
She would make sure Tang Yi could never obtain what she desired.
After all, someone had lost their soul and perished because of Tang Yi.
Wasn't this her revenge?
The system said, 【Host, please control yourself. That wicked smile at the corner of your mouth—what if you scare your father?】
Tang Yongbo lifted his eyelids and glanced at Tang Guo. “I don't really have much of an appetite right now.”
“You still need to eat.”
Tang Yongbo replied, “Then anything is fine.”
“Then I'll bring you and Mom some of your usual favorites, alright?”
His mood improved slightly. “Sure.”
After saying that, he glanced at the copybook. “Where did you find this thing?”
“Big Brother Tao sent it over,” Tang Guo answered honestly.
“Tao Yu came?” Tang Yongbo and Lin Yinghui asked at the same time. “Where is he? Why didn't he come here?”
Tang Kui asked afterward, “Why has he come again?”
Why was that guy always lingering around like a ghost that wouldn't go away? Wherever his sister was, he was there too, sticking to her like a piece of chewing gum.
“He's at the restaurant,” Tang Guo said matter-of-factly. “He came early this morning. He said he was afraid Dad would be bored, and just happened to find this copybook, so he brought it over. He asked me to deliver it first while he went to the restaurant. He also asked me to ask Mom and Dad what you'd like to eat later, and he'd arrange everything there and have it delivered.”
Lin Yinghui smiled brightly. “Little Tao is really thoughtful.”
Tang Yongbo nodded. “Indeed.”
Afterward, Tang Guo informed them that Chen Xian and Zhao Wen would also be arriving in the afternoon. In fact, many of the Tang family's important relatives were already on their way. After all, the status and influence of the couple were still significant.
Tang Yi sat quietly off to the side, watching the family enjoy themselves together in warmth and harmony. Suddenly, she felt like she could hardly breathe.
