Chapter 1800: Unlucky Heiress (68)

"What is it?" Tang Yongbo asked, puzzled. "Yinghui, what did you think of?"

He had initially paid little attention to it, but seeing the grave expression on Lin Yinghui's face, he became serious as well.

"What came to mind, Yinghui?"

"Yongbo, I just remembered something." Lin Yinghui looked at him and said, "Do you think the gifts Guoguo and A'Kui gave Xiaoyi were really blessed by the master?"

It wasn't that she doubted her son and daughter. Even if they hadn't given Tang Yi items blessed by the master, she had no right to blame them. Perhaps there had only been a few such treasures, and they had simply chosen to give them to the people they treasured most.

If there had been extras, however, Lin Yinghui couldn't help feeling somewhat conflicted.

That would mean that not only did A'Kui dislike Tang Yi, but even Guoguo did as well.

She had noticed Tang Yi's recent despondency, but there was nothing she could do about it. A'Kui and Guoguo were biological siblings. It was only natural for them to be closer.

As their mother, she couldn't possibly criticize them and tell them not to be so close because they had to consider Tang Yi's feelings.

That simply wouldn't do.

Tang Yongbo froze for a moment. "Why would you think that?"

"Yongbo, do you remember Xiaoyi's accident last time? If she had been wearing the gifts from Guoguo and A'Kui, wouldn't she have avoided being injured when that thing fell on her?"

Tang Yongbo sank into thought.

She was right.

Could it be that the items Guoguo and A'Kui had given them and Tang Yi were really different?

Were those biological siblings so in sync?

Yet he couldn't bring himself to blame them.

Guoguo wasn't close to Tang Yi, and the master's treasures were priceless.

As for A'Kui, he had disliked Tang Yi getting close to him ever since childhood. It wouldn't be surprising if he hadn't given her something like that.

Yinghui, however, probably found it harder to accept.

After all, she genuinely loved all three children and had always hoped they would get along and love one another.

"Let's find an opportunity to ask them," Tang Yongbo comforted her. "Yinghui, don't overthink it. The children have their own thoughts. As parents, we can only try our best to be fair. We can't control what's in their hearts. If we force ourselves into it, we'll only stir up conflicts."

"I know that." Lin Yinghui sighed. "Have I ever forced them to spend time together? Xiaoyi and Guoguo simply can't play together."

"Exactly. Xiaoyi has her own group of friends. During weekends and vacations, young girls her age go out together. But Guoguo has thrown herself entirely into the company. Whenever she has free time, that boy Tao Yu coaxes her into going to the movies. I really don't understand what's so interesting about them."

Lin Yinghui couldn't help laughing. "And aren't you the same? Whenever you have time, you're locked in the study, admiring the purple clay teapot and antiques Tao Yu gave you. Stop talking. You're all alike."

Tang Yongbo chuckled.

As they chatted, the two gradually fell asleep, though the matter remained in the back of their minds.

When Tang Guo and the others returned to the hospital again, the couple paid special attention to Tang Yi.

Originally, they had wanted to ask Tang Guo and Tang Kui privately whether the things they had given Tang Yi were truly made by the master.

But when their eyes fell on Tang Yi's wrist, they remembered that they had previously seen her wearing the sandalwood bead bracelet Tang Guo had given her.

Today, Tang Yi was wearing a long half-sleeved wool coat, and underneath it was a close-fitting knitted sweater.

Because the sweater fit tightly, the cuffs were drawn snugly around her wrists.
