Chapter 1781: Unlucky Heiress (49)
It took Tang Yi a long time to finally accept her current state—being forced into baldness. Every time Tang Kui came to the hospital, she found herself unable to face him. He had never liked her much to begin with, and now that she looked so ugly, he probably disliked her even more.
Seeing Tang Yi gloomy all day, Lin Yinghui comforted her, saying, “It’s enough that you woke up. You’ll recover soon. In a few months, your hair will grow back. Xiaoyi, you need to focus on taking care of your body right now. School is about to start.”
“I know, Mom. I just can’t accept it all at once.”
Tang Yongbo felt sorry for her as well and said, “Is there anything you want? Or anything you’d like? At a time like this, being happy is the most important thing.”
His words stirred something in Tang Yi’s heart. Although she felt inferior about her appearance in front of Tang Kui, if she appeared before him in such a weak and pitiful state, perhaps he would take pity on her and spend some time with her.
So she said, “Mom, Dad, where’s Big Brother? Could I go to the company with him for a while recently? Staying in this room all day is really boring.”
Tang Yongbo and Lin Yinghui were both stunned by the request.
Go to the company with Tang Kui?
Though neither voiced it, their instinctive reaction was refusal. Tang Yongbo had already handed most of the company affairs over to Tang Kui. Despite Tang Kui occasionally finding time at noon to pick Tang Guo up for meals, he was actually extremely busy. The reason he had reserved Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at noon for Tang Guo was because his other times were occupied by various social engagements.
Sometimes, he was too busy even on those days. It was precisely because he had performed so exceptionally that Tang Yongbo had felt confident enough to gradually transfer authority to him.
In a way, he had lifted a rock only to drop it on his own foot.
Tang Yi was injured, and ordinarily, such a small request should have been granted. They doted on her, but they also cared about their son. He was already so busy—how could he possibly spare the attention to take care of an injured patient?
If anything happened to Tang Yi, Tang Kui’s focus would inevitably be divided. Should that affect the company and cause losses, the shareholders would certainly make trouble. By then, the impact on Tang Yi, Tang Kui, and even the entire company would be terrible. Loving their daughter was one thing, but there had to be limits. The company involved everyone’s interests; they could not agree to such an unreasonable request over Tang Yi’s whim.
Even though Tang Kui spoiled Tang Guo, he had never brought her to the company at all times.
The Tang Corporation was no ordinary company. Every employee entering or leaving had to pass identity chip verification, facial recognition, and fingerprint scans. Tang Yongbo only paused briefly before saying, not believing Tang Yi was intentionally making things difficult for them and assuming she simply didn’t understand these matters, “A’Kui is extremely busy. Once he comes back, I’ll have him come upstairs and spend more time with you. How about letting him take you and your sister out over the weekend?”
“Dad, I won’t cause any trouble for the company. Just give me a place to sit,” Tang Yi insisted stubbornly.
When she was young, she had never visited the Tang family company and had never cared about such things. She only knew that the Tang family owned a huge corporation. She had no idea that the Tang Corporation was a top-tier chip company involving numerous high-level secrets. Security for every employee entering or leaving was extremely strict, especially in the main headquarters where Tang Kui worked.
The other subsidiary branches weren’t as tightly controlled, but without Tang Kui there, Tang Yi probably wouldn’t have wanted to go anyway.
