Chapter 1762: Unlucky Heiress (29)

Saturday night, the long-awaited banquet finally arrived. Chen Xian and Zhao Wen left the shop in the hands of their employees for the evening.

For such an important occasion, the Tang family naturally invited the two adoptive parents who meant so much to Tang Guo.

That night, Tang Guo wore the custom-made dress Tang Kui had brought her to have tailored previously.

It was a beautiful blue evening dress that made her look like a princess.

When Tang Kui personally led her downstairs, every gaze in the hall was drawn to her.

Her appearance dimmed the brilliance of all the female guests present, including Tang Yi.

Even though Tang Yi had dressed herself carefully, she still failed to stand out beneath Tang Guo’s radiance.

Before arriving, many people had wondered what the Tang family’s lost daughter would be like.

Judging from Tang Kui and Lin Yinghui’s looks, she certainly shouldn't be unattractive.

Still, she had grown up outside the family. Though she might be pretty, there was no guarantee she would be presentable.

After all, in their circle, banquet etiquette and bearing were extremely important.

But after seeing her in person, not a single trace of disdain remained in their hearts.

They secretly muttered to themselves that this hardly looked like someone who had grown up outside the family. If they hadn't known that the Tang couple had spent all these years searching for Tang Guo without giving up, they might have thought they had secretly raised their daughter in some castle.

Naturally, everyone attending the banquet lavished Tang Guo with praise.

Tang Yongbo and Lin Yinghui wore smiles from ear to ear as they kept Tang Guo by their side.

Even at a time like this, they did not neglect Tang Yi. She remained beside Lin Yinghui, with Tang Yongbo and Lin Yinghui in the middle and the two girls standing on either side.

As for Tang Kui, the older brother, he could only stand off to the side, right next to Tang Guo.

He didn't mind at all. Even standing there, no one could ignore his presence.

The Tang family might not neglect Tang Yi, but outsiders didn't necessarily share that consideration. They couldn't care less whether Tang Yi felt uncomfortable or not. All they knew was that the Tang family's daughter had returned.

Not only did she look outstanding, she was someone worthy of being presented to society and was treasured dearly by the Tang couple.

Naturally, they wanted to get acquainted with her. Perhaps one day their families might even become in-laws.

Originally, Tang Yi had been the most popular person at these gatherings.

Now, that position belonged to Tang Guo.

Could Tang Yi possibly feel good about that?

Of course not.

Throughout the evening, she maintained her smile, but it was as though no one even noticed her.

Those people who had once treated her warmly seemed to have vanished overnight.

When it came time to dance, many young people stepped forward one after another to invite Tang Guo.

After being politely rejected by her, they suddenly remembered Tang Yi and turned to invite her instead.

The feeling was as if she were accepting what Tang Guo had discarded.

She could claim not to care, but when faced with it in reality, how could she truly remain indifferent?

She politely declined as well and stood to one side with several of her close friends, each holding a wine glass as they chatted quietly.

Meanwhile, the girls from families on the same level as the Tang family had already gathered around Tang Guo, laughing and chatting with her.

They had originally thought they would have little in common with her.

Unexpectedly, talking with Tang Guo felt incredibly easy.

Not only was she not timid in the slightest, they had initially intended to follow her lead in conversation, but as topics shifted naturally from one thing to another, she was able to pick them up effortlessly every time.
