Chapter 1748: Unlucky Heiress (15)
"How about I help Guoguo decorate her room?"
Unable to find anything else to talk about, Tang Yi suddenly remembered that Tang Guo had only just returned home. Surely no one had had time to prepare her room yet.
Whenever the Tang family moved, they would always reserve the best room for Tang Guo.
Every year on Tang Guo's birthday, Father Tang, Mother Tang, and Tang Kui would prepare gifts appropriate for her age and secretly place them inside her room.
On that day, all three of them would spend some time sitting quietly in that room.
Even though she had lived with the Tang family for so many years, Tang Yi had never once stepped inside.
She had thought that room would remain an empty memorial forever.
Who would have imagined that its rightful owner would one day return?
Tang Yi felt especially bitter.
But no matter how uncomfortable she felt, what could she do?
This had always been Tang Guo's home.
She had always been the Tang family's little princess; she had merely become separated from them by accident when she was young.
If Tang Guo had never gone missing, Tang Yi would never have had the chance to enter the Tang family at all. She might still be living in the orphanage.
Thinking of this, Tang Yi did her best to calm herself and suppress the unease in her heart.
She had lived such a happy life with the Tang family. She should be satisfied, shouldn't she?
"Guoguo's room has already been arranged," Tang Kui said with a smile. "I just showed it to her. She likes it very much."
"Oh, really? That's wonderful."
Tang Yi felt somewhat awkward and sad.
Tang Kui had never treated her with such affection.
After all, they were the true brother and sister.
After a while, Tang Yi said again,
"Then if there are still things you need to buy, or if you want to go shopping, Guoguo, I can accompany you."
Tang Guo nodded.
"Okay."
She also wanted to see what choice Tang Yi would make next.
Given Father Tang and Mother Tang's personalities, even with their biological daughter back, they would never mistreat Tang Yi.
If Tang Yi's own jealousy drove her to do something excessive, then she truly would be unforgivable.
Aside from being especially close and affectionate toward Tang Guo, Tang Kui made no deliberate effort to target Tang Yi.
"Let's go downstairs. Mom had Auntie prepare lots of dishes today, and she even said she'd personally cook a few herself."
Tang Kui patted Tang Guo on the shoulder before speaking to Tang Yi.
Downstairs, Tang Yongbo was sitting on the sofa.
Seeing them come down, he smiled warmly at Tang Yi.
"Xiaoyi, this is Guoguo, the daughter we've often talked about. Ah Kui must have already told you, right?"
"Yes, Dad."
Tang Yi had calmed down considerably and sat obediently to one side.
"I'm also very happy that Guoguo has returned home. Mom and Dad won't have to keep worrying and feeling sad over her anymore. From now on, our whole family can finally be reunited."
Tang Yongbo was very pleased by her words.
"Well said. From now on, our family can truly be together again."
"You and Guoguo are about the same age, so you should get along well. In the future, if she attends gatherings and isn't familiar with things, you should take care of her."
Tang Yongbo said this partly to consider Tang Yi's feelings.
He was afraid she might feel hurt and think that, now that their biological daughter had returned, they would neglect her.
Having Tang Yi accompany Tang Guo to future social events was also his way of telling her that, no matter what, she was still their daughter.
Nothing would change from before.
After all, they had raised her for over ten years and shared genuine affection with her.
It made no sense that they would abandon their adopted daughter simply because their biological daughter had come home.
