Chapter 1743: Unlucky Heiress (10)

She had already made up her mind. She only wanted to acknowledge her daughter. For her daughter, it would simply mean having another pair of parents.

She wasn't so selfish as to take her away. The girl had grown into such an outstanding young woman; it was obvious that the couple had raised her well. Having such wonderful adoptive parents was her daughter's blessing.

The next day, Lin Yinghui didn't come.

Tang Guo continued attending classes and often helped out at the shop.

"Guoguo, what's all this?" One day, Chen Xian saw Tang Guo opening a large package. The contents didn't seem like things young girls would usually buy, so he couldn't help asking.

Taking out several sets of equipment, Tang Guo said, "These are surveillance cameras. I bought them online."

"Huh? Surveillance cameras?" Zhao Wen asked curiously. "We already have cameras installed in the shop. Guoguo, why did you buy so many?"

There seemed to be seven or eight of them. They were rather small, and at first glance didn't even resemble cameras. Instead, they looked more like decorative lights.

"We only have one camera over the cash register," Tang Guo explained while beginning to install them. "I don't think that's enough. Since the shop is right outside the university, I think it's better to install more."

The couple could only watch helplessly as she fixed the cameras onto the ceiling.

Six cameras were enough to cover every seat in the small shop.

As for the remaining two, she actually installed them in the kitchen.

"Why put cameras in the kitchen too?" Chen Xian couldn't help asking. "Isn't that unnecessary?"

"It's absolutely necessary." Tang Guo smiled. "Mom, Dad, we're in the food business now, and business is booming. I'm worried someone might have bad intentions. These cameras aren't just for outsiders—they're also for monitoring our own shop. I know the food you make is clean, but if something really happens, video footage is the best evidence."

As she spoke, she showed them several news articles.

They all involved popular restaurants that had suddenly been accused of having problems with their food. Customers claimed they found flies or bugs in their meals, and some establishments were even accused of adding poppy shells to their food. Any one of these scandals would severely affect business.

Most ended up shutting down temporarily for rectification.

Even if the damage wasn't too severe, word would spread among customers that the place was unhygienic. No matter how delicious the food was, people would lose interest.

After seeing that, the couple no longer objected and agreed that installing the cameras was a good idea.

"Mom, Dad, don't tell anyone about all these cameras. Nobody will ask if you don't bring it up. I bought cameras that look like decorations from the outside. The whole point is to catch people off guard. If everyone knows about them, they won't be as useful."

The couple nodded repeatedly.

They weren't fools.

Every industry had vicious competition. There were always jealous people willing to resort to dirty tricks. It was better to be cautious.

On Tuesday, at around two in the afternoon, the quietest time of the day, Tang Yongbo made his move.

According to his observations, Tang Guo usually had no classes at that hour and would be helping in the shop.

Tang Yongbo, Lin Yinghui, and Tang Kui all arrived together.

Looking at the three of them, it was obvious they hadn't come for snacks.

Chen Xian and Zhao Wen were both puzzled.

Only Tang Guo knew why they had come.
