Chapter 1741: Unlucky Heiress (8)

By the time dusk approached, the Tang couple finally left the snack shop reluctantly, arm in arm. Throughout the entire visit, aside from frequently stealing glances at Tang Guo, they didn't display anything unusual.

Only after getting into the car did the thoughts weighing on their hearts finally show on their faces.

But Tang Yi, being rather careless, noticed nothing. She had eaten quite a bit at the snack shop and was thoroughly stuffed, paying no attention to the couple's strange behavior.

After returning home and entering their room, the two could no longer hold back the words they had been suppressing for several hours.

"Yongbo, do you think that could be our Guoguo?" Lin Yinghui's face was a mixture of nervousness, excitement, and disbelief. She tightly grabbed Tang Yongbo's arm. "I was so nervous just now that I completely forgot to ask the girl's name."

"Whether we ask her name or not doesn't mean much. If Guoguo was really adopted, her name might have been changed long ago."

Lin Yinghui's expression dimmed slightly, but as she thought about that girl who resembled her younger self by seven parts, hope slowly rose again.

"Yongbo, let's investigate first. Otherwise, if we're wrong, it'll only embarrass her. If we find evidence suggesting that girl really could be our Guoguo, then we'll go talk to them."

More than ten years had passed, and although they had adopted Tang Yi, they had never truly let go of what happened back then.

If only she had been a little more careful, or held Guoguo in her arms, she would never have lost her.

She clearly remembered holding her hand tightly. She was sure the child she had been holding was Guoguo, so why, in the end, had the child in her hand turned out to belong to another family while her own daughter vanished without a trace?

"Yinghui, don't rush. Calm down." Tang Yongbo patted her shoulder and pulled her into a comforting embrace. "Leave this matter to me. If she really is our daughter, I'll handle everything as quickly as possible and let you reunite with her."

"Then hurry up and do it."

Tang Yongbo couldn't help laughing helplessly. Who had just insisted on staying calm and not panicking? It was already late at night—where was he supposed to go?

"Then tomorrow," Lin Yinghui said, coming to her senses. It was already quite late, and that girl seemed to be a student at the nearby university. She wasn't going anywhere, so there was no need to rush.

The next day, Tang Yongbo began investigating Tang Guo's background.

Tang Yi had arranged to go out with classmates over the weekend and wasn't at home.

Tang Kui also had work at the company, so the couple hadn't told either of them yet. After all, they still didn't know the final outcome.

Left alone at home, Lin Yinghui eventually couldn't resist. She had the driver take her to the snack shop.

To her delight, Tang Guo was helping out at the store that day as well.

Overjoyed, she ordered a portion of snacks and a bowl of white fungus soup.

Whenever Tang Guo wasn't paying attention, she would secretly glance at her.

Sitting in a corner, she quietly observed the girl. If Tang Guo hadn't been paying close attention to her, she probably wouldn't have noticed those unusually lingering gazes.

After staying in the shop for an hour, Lin Yinghui left.

Then in the afternoon, she returned.

She sat in the same place again, but this time ordered several more dishes.

She thought that if she only ordered one thing and occupied a table, it might affect the shop's business.

So, to justify keeping the seat, she ordered plenty of food.

The problem was—

She couldn't possibly finish it all by herself.
