Chapter 1715: Miss Nice Girl (78)

Although she wasn't personally doing the nails anymore, after seeing the promotional photos and noticing that the prices were much lower, many people still came with hopeful expectations to give the salon a try.

On the first day of the grand opening, numerous customers arrived because of her reputation. From that day onward, the salon never had a quiet moment.

The salon closed for three days every month.

Those three days were reserved for improving the employees' skills and continuing their training.

Tang Guo would come up with new and unique designs and teach them to everyone.

She also encouraged them to propose their own ideas. If a design was selected, they would receive a bonus and have their names attached to the style.

This incentive system made every employee regard the salon as their own place and work even harder.

Especially after Tang Guo announced that anyone who stayed for two years would receive shares in the business. Who wouldn't be willing to work hard under such conditions?

Food and lodging were provided, and the boss was kind. Even though the work wasn't as glamorous as being a white-collar worker, for them, having full wallets, no worries about food or daily necessities, and enough money to support themselves in old age—that was true dignity.

Time flew by, and another year passed.

Under Baili Sheng's resentful gaze, Tang Guo finally agreed to get married first.

Back when she had been admitted to university, it was all thanks to her granduncle, who had suggested transferring her household registration to follow the school.

Therefore, when it came to buying a house and getting married, Li Meixue and Tang Chenghai had no way to control her.

At the time, the couple had actually been happy to let her transfer her registration. In their eyes, she would no longer be able to inherit any family property or lay claim to Tang Xiaokun's share.

Little did they know, they had only ended up dropping a rock on their own feet.

Before the wedding, Tang Guo and Baili Sheng quietly returned to the county town.

That year happened to be Tang Xiaokun's college entrance examination year, so the couple had no time to concern themselves with anything else.

Tang Guo and Baili Sheng secretly went to visit Granduncle and told him that they were getting married.

At the same time, she returned the three hundred thousand yuan he had lent her, together with all the interest.

When Granduncle learned that Tang Guo was getting married and had even opened her own nail salon, his face lit up with joy.

"Granduncle, once we leave this time, stay with us over there," Tang Guo said. "I told you before that I'd take care of you in your old age, and you agreed."

"I've already bought the houses. I bought two apartments directly opposite each other. I know you like peace and quiet, so this way we can look after each other without interfering with each other's habits. As for your house in the county town, you can rent it out."

The old man was stunned.

He had never imagined that Tang Guo had already bought houses—and not just one, but two facing each other.

Had she truly made up her mind to support him in his old age?

The truth was, the reason he had helped this girl all these years was because she reminded him of his own daughter, who had been thrown into the lake and drowned by his mother when she was only an infant, and of his hardworking and kind wife.

If he hadn't gone out to work that day, or if he had come home a little earlier, perhaps that tragedy would never have happened.

He couldn't undo the past.

But he could not stand by and watch another young girl have her future destroyed because of a family's obsession with sons.

That was why, when she was little, he would secretly slip her some money from time to time.

He would remind her to study hard.

When she got into university, he had persuaded Li Meixue and Tang Chenghai to let her transfer her household registration. On the surface, it looked like he was helping them, but in truth, he wanted to help the girl leave and free herself from their control.

The events of the previous two years had once left him disappointed.

After all, he was merely an outsider. There was only so much he could do.
