Chapter 1703: Miss Nice Girl (66)
"No, Mom," Tang Guo said as she sat up, clutching her blanket. "Cleaning will make my hands rough, and cooking produces so much greasy smoke that it'll make me ugly. Then how am I supposed to find a husband? I can't possibly marry some poor guy who doesn't even own a house."
"But have you found anyone yet?" Li Meixue shot back.
Tang Guo pouted. "I'm trying, aren't I? It's all those men's fault. They're selfish and have no vision at all. It's just buying a house for Xiaokun. They're so stingy, yet they still dare come out on blind dates."
Li Meixue nearly fainted from anger. How had her daughter turned into this?
"So you're just going to stay at home? No housework, no job, eating and drinking for free?"
"Mom, what are you saying?" Tang Guo rubbed her cheeks. "Wasn't it you who said girls don't need to work so hard? That they should make themselves pretty and marry a rich man, because that's the real way out?"
"You even said that having a good job wasn't as good as marrying well. I originally planned to work hard and make something of myself in the big city." She continued, "But your words woke me up. Why struggle so much? Working yourself to death and earning only a little money in the end—what's the point? Finding a rich husband is different. I can become a wealthy madam and enjoy life effortlessly."
"Mom, you can go now. I still want to sleep."
She lay back down, her muffled voice drifting out from beneath the blanket. "Have you ever heard of wealthy ladies doing housework and cleaning? I need to start getting used to the life of a rich madam in advance."
Li Meixue: "...To hell with getting used to rich madam life in advance."
System: He had no idea what to say. He only wanted to shout 666 for the host.
The old Tang Guo had always been obedient. A few words from Li Meixue, and she would quietly go do the housework.
But the Tang Guo of today was completely different.
After all, they had been apart for several years.
Li Meixue could only blame it on her daughter growing up and changing. Every sentence Tang Guo uttered left her speechless.
And the current Tang Guo wasn't someone who would obediently listen just because she was yelled at.
Every time Li Meixue came up with some excuse, Tang Guo would have ten reasons ready to refute her.
In the end, the one left unable to say a word was always Li Meixue.
No matter what she said, Tang Guo listened as if she heard it, yet completely ignored it.
In truth, people are often bullied for three reasons. First, they are too soft and too easy to push around. Second, they lack independence and constantly rely on their families emotionally. Third, they are financially dependent. If people don't bully someone like that, who else would they bully? Be strong, independent, and have money, and you won't fear anything no matter where you go.
And if your skin is thick enough and you're shameless enough, even the most outrageous people can't do anything to you.
Li Meixue stormed out in anger. Tang Guo didn't go back to sleep. Instead, she picked up her phone and started chatting with Baili Sheng.
Baili Sheng was staying in a small hotel not far away. When he saw Tang Guo telling him about what had just happened with Li Meixue, he couldn't help laughing.
Still, he wanted all of this to end sooner.
"Xiaoguo, how much longer before it's over?"
"My mom's almost reached her limit. Soon enough. If I keep acting like I'm preparing for the life of a rich madam every day, she'll eventually throw me out."
The best way to deal with outrageous people was to become even more outrageous than they were, until even they couldn't stand you and concluded that you were hopeless. Naturally, they wouldn't want anything to do with you in the future.
Li Meixue had no way to deal with Tang Guo, and news of the situation had already spread among the relatives.
Listening to Li Meixue's complaints about her daughter growing up, becoming unreasonable and ill-tempered, unable to find a husband, and refusing to do any housework, a whole crowd of relatives descended upon their home.
The moment Tang Guo saw them, she was in an excellent mood.
After all, she had no shame. If things turned ugly, it would be Li Meixue who lost face.
As for relatives, none of them genuinely cared about her anyway. If they tore off all pretenses and fell out completely, then so be it.
It would be best if they never had anything to do with one another for the rest of their lives.
