Chapter 1658: Miss Nice Girl (23)
“If you don't believe me, just wait and see. From now on, you'll never escape his classes.” A smile lingered on Han Yunya's pretty face. “You've lost many opportunities in the future.”
As she packed up her books, Tang Guo asked, “Lost what opportunities?”
“The opportunity to zone out in class, play with your phone, watch videos, or even skip class. Once that old man has his eye on you, every one of his classes during your entire college career will send you right back to high school. He'll pay extra attention to all your assignments, projects, and final exams. You'll become one of his key students.”
“Even if you sit in the back row, you won't escape those fiery eyes of his. He'll probably wave at you and say, ‘Tang Guo, why are you sitting so far away? Come sit in the front row.’” Han Yunya's smile widened. Patting Tang Guo's shoulder, she lowered her voice and said, “Congratulations, Tang Guo. You're the second person in our class to be targeted by Old Man Chen.”
Searching through her memories, Tang Guo found information about Professor Chen's habits.
Han Yunya wasn't exaggerating.
Why did Han Yunya always sit in the first row?
Actually, the middle seats offered the best view.
During the first semester, Han Yunya had been Professor Chen's favorite target.
Later, whenever she sat elsewhere, Professor Chen would wave her over and say that she spoke too softly and that only by sitting in the front row could he hear her answers clearly.
Who said top students never skipped class?
Han Yunya had skipped classes too.
Unfortunately, Professor Chen's impression of her was too deep.
Her contact information was on the attendance sheet.
One day, after she skipped class, Professor Chen called her right there in front of the entire class.
“I think I've finally been freed,” Han Yunya said with relief.
Tang Guo glanced at her.
“Not necessarily. There are only two of us. He has so much time in one class. He could randomly throw out two questions and call on us several times.”
“Whatever. As long as someone else shares some of the attention, that's good enough.”
As they walked out of the classroom, Han Yunya hugged her books and deliberately matched Tang Guo's pace.
“I never noticed before that you're actually pretty impressive.”
The original host's grades during the previous semester had merely been above average.
People often said that in university, as long as you scored sixty points and avoided failing, that was enough.
But what many people didn't understand was that regardless of the school, if grades and rankings existed, then naturally, good scores were better than poor ones.
Scoring sixty was merely getting by.
“I suddenly realized something before. I'd spent more than a semester drifting through life, and it felt like I hadn't learned anything. Since I can't find the best direction right now, I might as well focus on mastering what's in front of me.”
Han Yunya nodded approvingly.
“That's the right attitude.”
The two then entered another classroom together and once again chose seats in the front row, sitting side by side.
Before class began, they exchanged contact information.
Looking at the two contacts now resting inside her new phone, Tang Guo's lips curved upward.
These were her new friends.
She remembered reading something somewhere.
The general meaning was that people who respect you do not do so because you are outstanding, but because they themselves are outstanding enough to respect others.
When you become excellent, you naturally meet people of the same caliber.
As for those who are less capable, they can only admire you from afar, flatter you, and try to curry favor.
Those who are deeply insecure don't even dare stand on equal footing with you.
