Chapter 1637: Miss Nice Girl (2)

Even when she was busy or inconvenienced, she could never bring herself to refuse other people's requests.

She had been like this ever since she started school.

That personality stemmed from growing up in a family where she had no sense of presence.

Her family favored boys over girls. On the surface, her parents treated her decently, but in reality, they never truly valued her.

Before college, she commuted from home.

Every morning, she would wake up early to prepare breakfast for the entire family. Just a single compliment would make her happy for half the day.

After school, she had to prepare dinner for everyone.

If dinner was even slightly late, her parents would scold her.

Most girls would have argued back, but she had been raised under her parents' teachings and had believed since childhood that she owed everything to them.

Doing these small tasks was only natural.

Whenever she returned home late and failed to serve dinner on time, she never blamed her parents for scolding her. Instead, she thought she had done something wrong.

She never argued.

She simply endured in silence and continued working.

That was because, in her understanding of the world, there was one absolute truth:

Parents are never wrong.

Everything parents do and say is always right.

Ever since her younger brother, Tang Xiaokun, was born, all of her parents' attention had shifted to him.

They constantly taught her that he was younger, so she should always give in and spend her whole life treating him well. That was what a good older sister should do.

And she believed them.

She thought that if she earned her parents' affection, they would pay more attention to her.

That personality followed her throughout her entire life.

At first, when classmates asked her for help, they would politely say “please,” and after she helped them, they would thank her.

For the first few times, everyone remained courteous.

But after it happened enough times, everyone grew accustomed to it and began to think that helping them was simply her responsibility.

If one day she didn't do it, then she was the one at fault.

For example, in elementary school, she wiped the blackboard for six whole years.

Even though there was a daily cleaning duty schedule, everyone had grown used to asking her to do it, as though it had become her job.

Sometimes, when the blackboard wasn't cleaned in time, the teacher would scold her directly instead of the student actually assigned to the task.

Then there were exams.

People constantly asked her to pass little cheat notes.

If they performed poorly, she would inevitably be blamed. Feeling guilty, she would even spend her limited allowance buying snacks for her classmates to apologize.

By high school, studies became much more demanding.

Classmates borrowed her notes, and after borrowing them for long enough, they simply became theirs.

Too embarrassed to ask for them back, she would merely say that she planned to copy everything down again.

She had always tried her best to be kind to everyone.

Yet, in the end, no one remembered her kindness.

When they needed her, they called her sweetly and warmly.

When they didn't, they wouldn't even acknowledge her.

It was already the second semester of college, and everyone in her dormitory and class had long discovered what kind of person she was.

During the previous semester, she had helped these people bring back countless meals for free.

Not only that, they never paid her back.

The original owner was too embarrassed to ask for money.

Ten or twenty yuan at a time didn't seem like much.

But if it happened every day, who could endure it?

The strangest thing was that if she failed to help someone, she would actually feel guilty.

After briefly reviewing the original owner's life, Tang Guo had no interest in savoring the story of such a hopeless pushover little by little.

She had already heard someone knocking on the door.

“Tang Guo, open the door!”

Host, it looks like your roommate forgot her keys again and wants you to open the door, the System said gleefully.

A pushover setting.

It had really been a long time since they had encountered one.
