Chapter 1628: Rubik's Cube Beauty (90)
“Myself.” Zhai Chenming raised his arms. Thanks to the special medicine purchased from Trading City, his wounds had already healed.
The shop clerk glanced at him and shook his head. “Sorry, but even if you buy hands, they won’t be able to be attached.”
Zhai Chenming almost lost his voice. “Why?”
Wasn’t it said that anything could be bought in Trading City? There was nothing that couldn’t be purchased, only things one couldn’t think of.
“You have already been permanently deprived of your hands by the City Lord. You can buy anything you want, but hands are the one thing that won’t work.”
Zhai Chenming staggered back two steps, his face pale, before stepping forward again. “I don’t believe it. I want to buy them. How can you say it won’t work without even trying?”
“If you wish to purchase something else, please tell me. Otherwise, please leave. There are still people waiting in line behind you.”
Zhai Chenming already felt a powerful force pressing in on him from all directions inside the shop. The immense pressure almost drove him to his knees.
Left with no choice, he turned and left.
But Zhai Chenming refused to give up. Walking down the street with a gloomy expression, he eventually found someone who looked utterly destitute.
“Help me do something.”
Taking out a generous amount of Rubik’s Cube Coins, Zhai Chenming secured the man’s agreement.
The man went to the shop and chose a different counter.
For the next half hour, Zhai Chenming waited in a corner, his eyes cold as they swept over the surroundings.
Watching the smiling, excited faces of the people entering the shops of Trading City, he could not understand them at all.
What was so good about the Rubik’s Cube World?
Everyone here was either a lab rat or some little animal put on display for others to watch.
Before long, the man returned carrying two boxes.
Seeing them, Zhai Chenming took the boxes excitedly.
“All right, you can go.”
Clutching the boxes, he hurried back to the inn and locked himself inside his room, intending to carefully study how to attach the two hands.
But after trying for a long time, no matter what he did, the hands simply refused to connect to his arms.
He remembered what the clerk had said—that he had been permanently deprived of his hands by the City Lord of Trading City, Tang Guo.
A bad feeling slowly rose in his heart.
Still, he refused to accept it. Without trying, he could never let it go.
So he returned to the streets and searched for a long time before finally finding someone whose left wrist had been severed in exactly the same place as his own.
He gave one of the hands to that person.
The man received it with delight. He cut open the wound and let blood drip onto the seam where the hand joined.
Something miraculous happened.
The hand attached itself automatically.
In the blink of an eye, even the seam disappeared, as though the hand had always been part of his body.
Zhai Chenming was stunned.
So that was how one attached a hand.
After sending the man away, he returned to his room and followed the exact same method.
But the hand simply lay on the table without the slightest reaction.
When Yi Yingxue pushed open the door, she found Zhai Chenming viciously stomping on one of the hands with his foot, crushing it into a bloody mess until it was completely unrecognizable.
She hurriedly stopped him. “A-Ming, don’t do this.”
“If I don’t do this, what should I do? I’m the one who lost his hands, not you!”
Using his arm, Zhai Chenming shoved Yi Yingxue aside and walked out expressionlessly.
Yi Yingxue knew very well that Zhai Chenming’s hands could never be restored.
If they could have been, she would have bought them for him long ago, without waiting for him to do it himself.
