Chapter 1164: Ruthless CEO 54

Mother Tang was momentarily stunned when she heard Father Tang’s words.

Then she quickly asked, “Where is Ci’er?”

Father Tang immediately lost patience. “At a time like this, you’re still thinking about her? If it weren’t for her, would we be rushing to flee abroad at this age? Stop wasting time—pack up quickly! Take only valuable things!”

Mother Tang hesitated for a moment, then nodded quickly. “Alright, I’ll go right away!”

She rushed upstairs and frantically packed up jewelry and valuables.

Ten minutes later, the couple hurriedly left the Tang residence with a suitcase and the 1 billion check in hand, heading straight for the airport.

Once they arrived, Father Tang said, “You wait here. I’ll go to the nearby bank and cash this check. With this money, we won’t have to worry for the rest of our lives.”

As for Tang Ci’s fate, he no longer cared.

Mother Tang nodded immediately. “Alright, be careful. Don’t let anyone notice you.”

“I know what I’m doing,” Father Tang replied impatiently before hurrying off.

At the bank, however, reality hit like a hammer.

After reviewing the check, the staff politely said, “Sorry sir, this check is invalid and cannot be cashed.”

Father Tang froze. “Impossible! This is a check personally given by President Li of LS Group!”

The staff explained again, “The check itself is not fake. It has simply expired.”

The document was returned to him.

Only then did Father Tang realize he had been fooled completely.

So that was it.

No wonder Li Shuangtong had given him such a large amount so easily.

It was never real money at all.

A bitter, humiliating realization washed over him. His body swayed slightly as if he had aged ten years in an instant.

Meanwhile, at the hotel, Tang Wan and Li Shuangtong had already returned.

After learning that Tang Ci had been taken away by Fu Yunshan and suffered a miserable fate, Tang Wan remained calm. There was no sympathy, nor any satisfaction—just indifference.

Compared to how the original owner had been destroyed, Tang Ci’s ending meant nothing to her.

“It feels better now?” Li Shuangtong asked gently.

Tang Wan smiled. “Mm. Tongtong, you were very thorough. That evidence was perfect.”

Li Shuangtong replied calmly, “If I investigate carefully, there’s always something to find. You’re my wife—anything involving your innocence, I naturally won’t ignore.”

His words subtly shifted all blame toward Fu Yunshan.

Tang Wan looked at him with warmth in her eyes. “Tongtong, you’re really good. I wish I had met you earlier.”

Li Shuangtong pulled her into his arms. “I regret not meeting you sooner too.”

But even though Tang Wan said she was at ease, Li Shuangtong had no intention of letting Fu Yunshan off so easily.

Some debts, once incurred, had to be paid back—completely.
