Tang Wan suddenly let out a small exclamation as her body tilted toward Li Shuangtong.

Li Shuangtong reacted instantly and reached out to support her. His hand landed firmly at her waist, steadying her in his arms. For a brief moment, their eyes met at close range, and an almost imperceptible tension lingered between them.

A second later, Tang Wan quickly stood up, slightly flustered. “Thank you, Mr. Li! If it weren’t for you, I would’ve fallen badly today.”

“You’re welcome. You’re fine,” Li Shuangtong replied calmly.

But inwardly, he felt a trace of regret. In those idol dramas, wasn’t this exactly how the male and female leads got closer? Why didn’t such “accidents” feel as useful when it was his turn? What a pity.

Tang Wan coughed softly to break the moment. “It’s almost nine. President Li, should we head back?”

“Yes, let’s go,” he nodded.

They walked toward the elevator together. Because of the heavy rain outside, the driver had already brought the car directly under the building.

When the car arrived, Li Shuangtong opened his umbrella and looked at her. “Let’s go.”

“Okay.” Tang Wan stepped under the umbrella.

Although the umbrella was large, it still wasn’t easy for two people to share it comfortably. Almost naturally, Li Shuangtong shifted closer and gently guided her toward his side, his hand lightly securing her arm.

“Stand closer. You’ll get wet. If you catch a cold, it won’t be good,” he said flatly.

Tang Wan looked slightly startled for a moment, then lowered her voice. “Mm… thank you, Mr. Li.”

They reached the car soon after. The driver, slightly surprised at the scene, quickly got out and opened the door with an umbrella.

After Tang Wan got in, Li Shuangtong handed the umbrella back and followed.

The car started slowly due to the heavy rain. What normally took half an hour now took nearly fifty minutes.

During the ride, Tang Wan and Li Shuangtong briefly discussed a project proposal. After receiving his approval, she leaned back slightly in relief. “Discussing plans with President Li is really comfortable.”

“Oh?” Li Shuangtong glanced at her.

“It feels like… only Mr. Li can keep up with my thinking. Talking to you gives me a kind of… mutual understanding, like minds in sync,” she said seriously.

The corners of Li Shuangtong’s lips lifted slightly.

“That’s probably because I’m better than most people in thinking,” he said calmly, then added, “But it’s rare to meet someone whose thinking aligns so well with mine. Tang Wan, having you in the company is probably the most correct decision I’ve made.”

Tang Wan immediately smiled brightly. “Thank you for the compliment, Mr. Li.”

But inwardly she thought: Of course I won’t lose in business thinking either.

Still… being praised by Tong Tong like this did make her a little happy.
