After getting off the motorcycle, Li Sitong carried Tang Wan and quickly rushed into the hospital. As one of the most well-known surgeons in the People’s Hospital, he was recognized by almost everyone along the way. A passing doctor immediately came up to ask what was going on, and Li Sitong briefly explained that his friend had a high fever and asked if Dr. Huang from the emergency department was available. A nurse quickly responded that Dr. Huang was not on duty yet, but Dr. Zhou was currently available, and Li Sitong immediately thanked them before heading toward the staff elevator without delay.

Ten seconds later, they arrived at Dr. Zhou’s department. Dr. Zhou was slightly surprised when he saw Li Sitong’s anxious expression—this “iceberg doctor” was usually calm and composed, and it was rare to see even the slightest emotional fluctuation on his face. Yet now, he clearly looked tense. Before he could speak, Li Sitong had already said directly that his friend had a high fever and needed immediate treatment. Seeing Tang Wan’s condition, Dr. Zhou did not delay and quickly measured her temperature. Upon seeing the reading of 40 degrees, his expression turned serious as he immediately instructed the nurse to begin physical cooling and started arranging IV treatment.

After about ten minutes, Tang Wan’s face gradually stopped being so flushed, and Li Sitong finally relaxed a little. Dr. Zhou looked at him with a slightly teasing expression and told him that her condition had stabilized and he could return to work. Li Sitong nodded, thanked him briefly, and before leaving, he glanced once more at Tang Wan lying on the hospital bed before turning and walking toward the emergency department.

After some time, Tang Wan slowly regained consciousness. She could feel her body still weak, but the fever had already reduced significantly. Dr. Zhou handed her a thermometer and asked her to check her temperature again. After a few minutes, he confirmed it had dropped to 38 degrees and told her it was stable now, advising her to rest properly.

Tang Wan responded softly, then immediately asked where Doctor Li had gone. Dr. Zhou, slightly curious about their relationship, told her that Li Sitong had returned to work but had been extremely anxious when sending her over, saying he had never seen him so panicked in four years of knowing him. He added that Li Sitong was usually extremely cold and distant in the hospital, rarely interacting emotionally with others and even nurses often gathered just to catch a glimpse of him smiling, which almost never happened.

Hearing this, Tang Wan’s eyes brightened slightly, while Dr. Zhou silently thought to himself that he had already done his part in helping Li Sitong and if anything else went wrong, it was no longer his responsibility.
