Chapter 1081: Iceberg Doctor 30

“I’m used to it,” Li Sitong said calmly.

But inwardly, he was thinking—so what, are you planning to give up now?

It seemed he had overestimated her persistence. This level of “testing” wasn’t anything special after all. No wonder she had been able to deal with so many men.

However, just as he was thinking this, Tang Wan suddenly shook her head. “No, I still don’t want to stay single.”

She paused slightly, then continued, “Unlike you, I don’t have family. I’m alone. If I don’t have someone by my side and something happens one day, no one would even know. I don’t want to end up lying there until my body starts to smell before anyone finds me.”

It wasn’t just an excuse—this was something that had genuinely happened in the original storyline.

Her disappearance had gone unnoticed for years. People had assumed she was simply traveling abroad, since she often did.

Hearing this, Li Sitong was slightly stunned. He hadn’t expected that her reason would be this.

For a moment, he didn’t know whether to laugh or not.

“If you’re worried about that, you could live with friends,” he suggested.

Tang Wan immediately shook her head. “No. Everyone’s an adult, they need their own space. It’s fine to hang out sometimes, but living together long-term isn’t good.”

“Mm,” Li Sitong nodded.

At that moment, the dishes were served.

Tang Wan picked up her chopsticks. “Doctor Li, try this. I really like this restaurant.”

“Alright,” he replied.

Then he asked casually, “Do you usually order these dishes?”

“Yeah, I just think they taste really good,” Tang Wan said.

“Really? Then I should try them properly,” Li Sitong said.

In reality, he was already familiar with Zhou Ji’s menu—he was a frequent customer himself. He usually ordered a balanced mix of dishes, paying attention to nutrition. Otherwise, he would almost suspect she had investigated his preferences in advance.

He took a bite. “It is good.”

Tang Wan immediately relaxed. “Right? I knew you’d like it!”

In her mind, she thought quietly—as expected, Tongtong’s taste hasn’t changed.

After the meal, she was still thinking about how to extend the “date,” but Li Sitong’s phone suddenly rang.

After answering, he stood up quickly. “Got it, I’ll head back now.”

He turned to her. “Sorry, there’s an emergency surgery. I have to go back immediately.”

“It’s fine,” Tang Wan said quickly. “I drove here anyway, don’t worry about me.”

“Mm.” He nodded and walked out briskly.

After he left, Tang Wan also got up to pay the bill—but the waiter stopped her.

“The gentleman you came with has already paid.”

Tang Wan paused slightly. “I see.”

A faint warmth rose in her chest.

He had left in such a hurry, but still remembered to pay.

As expected…

He was quite responsible.

And this… gave her even more reason to keep interacting with him.
