Chapter 1062: Iceberg Doctor 11

Zhao Jie didn’t react at first.

The Tang Wan in front of him was completely different from the one in his memory. He stood at the doorway, stunned, until she hung up the call and casually dialed another number. Only then did he slowly come back to his senses—but before he could speak, her voice rang out again.

“Hey, Xiaoli, my boyfriend’s coming back, so I won’t be going clubbing tonight. Ugh, it’s so annoying—every time he comes over, I have to hire someone to clean the house! I even have to get someone to cook and pretend I made it myself. I’m exhausted just thinking about it!”

“I know it’s not right! But what can I do? Zhao Jie likes the gentle, virtuous wife type. Even if I’m faking it, I have to keep up the act! What about later? Who knows about later—just keep it up for as long as I can. Break up? How could he possibly break up with me? If he dares, I’ll cry, make a scene, even threaten suicide! I’ve already sacrificed so much for him. When he’s around, I don’t dare smoke, don’t dare drink, don’t even dare play mahjong. This kind of life is so dull and suffocating! Who knows how long he’ll stay this time before leaving again…”

As she spoke, she casually used the same hand that had just been picking at her foot to dig her nose—then deliberately glanced toward the door.

The moment she saw him, she froze.

Completely “petrified” on the sofa.

The next second, she jumped up in a panic, her face full of shock. “X-Xiaojie? Y-you… why are you back so early? Didn’t you say you’d arrive this afternoon?!”

Zhao Jie looked at her silently.

Her messy appearance. The chaotic apartment that looked like a pigsty.

After a long pause, he finally spoke, his voice flat. “So this is what you’re like when I’m not around? Is this your real self?”

Tang Wan immediately panicked. “No—Xiaojie, listen to me! I didn’t mean to lie to you! It’s just… doing housework is really exhausting, and cooking fumes ruin my skin. If I turn into an old woman because of that, what if you stop liking me?”

Zhao Jie’s expression darkened further.

He had chosen to date Tang Wan because he believed she was gentle, virtuous, and devoted to her home. With his job, being away for long periods was normal—so he needed a girlfriend who would stay home and value stability, someone who wouldn’t stray out of loneliness.

But now it was clear—

He had been completely wrong.

The “perfect” girlfriend he thought he knew wasn’t virtuous at all. Instead, she smoked, drank, and played around.

If he hadn’t come back early today, he would never have discovered this side of her.

He had even planned to propose this time.

Now, thinking about it, he felt a chill of relief.

If he had married her first and only then discovered the truth… it would have been too late.

A trace of mockery flashed across his darkened face. Looking at her disheveled, panicked appearance, he said bluntly, “Tang Wan, let’s break up.”

Tang Wan’s eyes widened instantly, her expression turning hysterical. “What did you say?! I don’t agree! How can you just break up with me? I’m just a bit lazy, a little careless! You’re away all year and rarely come back—so what if the house is messy? That has nothing to do with you!”
