Chapter 1043: Doomsday Big Boss 47

Tang Wan could tell what Hu Tongxia was thinking just by looking at his flickering eyes. For a moment, she felt both speechless and amused, but still pretended to be clueless. “Tongtong, we’ve been running around all day… aren’t you tired? Shouldn’t we sleep early?”

Hearing this, Hu Tongxia immediately replied, “I’m not that tired. I think… I can sleep a bit later.”

Tang Wan looked at him suspiciously.

Seeing her expression, Hu Tongxia leaned closer under the pretense of talking, casually placing his hand over the back of hers. The movement was subtle—but intentional.

A few minutes later, Hu Tongxia kicked the bedroom door open with urgency, then hooked it shut behind him with his foot.

Tang Wan: …

The routine was shamelessly obvious.

But she didn’t mind.

The next morning, when Tang Wan finally woke up after being thoroughly exhausted, it was already past ten.

At that moment, Hu Tongxia pushed open the door and walked in, holding a bowl of steaming chicken soup. Seeing that she was awake, he quickly set the bowl down and stepped forward.

“Wanwan, you’re up. I made you chicken soup—there’s even ginseng in it. It’ll help you recover your energy. Come on, drink some.”

In this world, both chicken and ginseng were rare luxuries. He had gone through quite a bit of trouble to get them from Ling Chi.

After all… he had really worn her out the night before.

If she didn’t recover properly, his future “benefits” might suffer.

Hearing this, Tang Wan sat up in surprise. “Where did you even find these ingredients?”

This wasn’t the pre-apocalypse anymore. Even finding a hen was difficult—let alone ginseng.

Hu Tongxia waved it off casually. “Got it from Ling Chi. Hurry up and drink.”

He didn’t bother explaining the process.

Tang Wan didn’t press further either. It was enough for her to know that he had gone to great lengths for her.

She smiled and nodded. “Okay. Thank you, Tongtong—you worked hard.”

“No trouble at all! As long as it helps you recover,” Hu Tongxia said quickly.

Then he added, “Go brush your teeth first. I’ll cool the soup for you.”

“Alright!” Tang Wan replied with a smile.

When she came out of the bathroom, the chicken soup had already been cooled to the perfect temperature.

After taking a few sips, Tang Wan scooped up a spoonful and held it toward Hu Tongxia. “Tongtong, you should drink some too.”

Seeing this, his expression instantly softened, and he happily leaned forward to take a sip from her hand.

It tasted… incredibly sweet.

But when she tried to feed him another spoonful, Hu Tongxia shook his head. “You drink it. There’s more in the kitchen—I’ll get another bowl later.”

This bowl wasn’t much to begin with. If he kept drinking, she wouldn’t have enough.

“Okay then,” Tang Wan nodded.

Over the following days, Tang Wan, Hu Tongxia, and the others settled into life at the base. From time to time, they would go out to clear nearby zombies and earn contribution points.

In the blink of an eye, a month passed.

By the end of October, the weather began to shift.

Then, as November arrived, heavy snow started to fall.

At first, the snowflakes were the usual white—but after just one night, the entire snowfall turned a strange, rusty red.

Tang Wan knew what this meant.

Once this three-month-long snowfall ended, the zombies would undergo another evolution.

At the same time, more humans would begin to awaken their abilities.
