Chapter 1037: Doomsday Big Boss 41

“We’re heading to a food factory,” Hu Tongxia said as he drove. “There should be a lot of potatoes there.”

Potatoes were easy to grow and filling. If they could bring back enough, getting through the winter would be much easier.

Hearing this, Tang Wan’s thoughts stirred.

She remembered a part of the original plot—when Xu Jintang led a team to this same factory to transport potatoes, they accidentally discovered a hidden military base beneath it. Inside were large amounts of weapons.

Those weapons had later given him a huge advantage when the second group arrived.

That second group had been stationed troops from the city. Although not all of them had awakened abilities, their combat skills were far superior. With weapons in hand, they were many times more dangerous than the early-stage ability users.

Their leader, Ling Chi, had once been Xu Jintang’s junior.

But later, while protecting his comrades on a mission, Ling Chi had been bitten on the arm by a zombie… and died.

Over an hour later, Tang Wan and the others arrived at the food processing factory.

It had been more than half a year since the apocalypse began. Even if there were still potatoes in storage, most would likely be spoiled by now.

Fortunately, this was a factory that processed potato chips. It had specialized storage facilities with good preservation conditions.

So when they entered, although the potatoes on the production lines were mostly rotten or sprouted, many of those stored in the cellar were still intact.

“Everyone, start moving the potatoes!” Hu Tongxia ordered. “Take the sprouted ones too!”

Even though sprouted potatoes were toxic, they could still be used—Tang Wan’s plant ability could stimulate them to grow into new crops.

Soon, everyone began packing the potatoes into sacks and carrying them outside.

Meanwhile, Tang Wan scanned the area, quietly searching for where the entrance to the hidden base might be.

Before she could locate it, someone suddenly called out, “Hey! There’s a cover here! Could there be another cellar underneath?”

Hearing this, Hu Tongxia immediately walked over.

He knocked on the ground a few times, then narrowed his eyes. “There’s space underneath. Pry it open.”

“Got it!” A strength-type ability user quickly found an iron rod and began forcing the embedded cover loose.

It didn’t take long.

With a heavy creak, the lid was pried open—

But underneath wasn’t another cellar.

It was a thick steel plate.

Hu Tongxia immediately turned to another teammate. “Old Zhou, your turn.”

“Leave it to me!” Lao Zhou grinned, stepping forward.

Using his metal ability, he began melting the steel plate—something that would normally require heavy artillery to break through.

As the metal softened and gave way, Hu Tongxia grabbed a flashlight and shone it down into the opening.

A moment later—

His expression changed.

“Tongxia, what’s down there?” Lao Zhou asked. “More potatoes?”

Hu Tongxia finally snapped out of it. His eyes were bright, his tone filled with excitement.

“Way more valuable than potatoes,” he said.

“It’s an arsenal.”

“What?!”

Everyone froze for a split second—then broke into stunned excitement.

Weapons.

This was far better than food.

After all, their abilities had limits. But with weapons, they could keep fighting even after exhausting their powers—without risking being scratched or overwhelmed by zombies.

For the first time since arriving—

their chances of survival had just increased dramatically.
