Chapter 1025: Doomsday Big Boss 29

Seeing the shocked look on his friend’s face, Hu Tongxia nodded seriously. “Exactly. So from today onward, we keep our distance. I have zero interest in you, so stop sticking to me.”

The moment those words came out, his friend exploded. “Damn! Like I’m interested in you? You see that steel pipe over there? I’m straighter than that, got it?!”

With that, he quickly stepped away, his face full of disgust.

Hu Tongxia was more than happy with that outcome. He waved him off just as dismissively, then turned and walked straight to Tang Wan. “Wan Wan, let’s get in the car.”

“Mm.” Tang Wan smiled and nodded.

Because they were transporting grain this time, they mobilized thirty people and three trucks. One of the trucks was driven by Hu Tongxia, and naturally, Tang Wan sat in the passenger seat beside him.

After getting in, Hu Tongxia couldn’t help glancing at her from time to time. Even when he turned the steering wheel, his movements carried a subtle swagger.

Having a girlfriend by his side felt… incredibly good.

Still, a certain thought crept into his mind—how long would he have to keep driving trucks before he could move on to something more “serious”?

The idea made his ears heat up slightly, and he stole another glance at Tang Wan.

Tang Wan noticed his repeated looks and finally said, “Tongtong, stop staring at me and focus on driving.”

“Oh.” Hu Tongxia responded obediently.

But it didn’t take long before he fell back into the habit, sneaking another glance at her.

My girlfriend is so pretty…

The thought surfaced again and again.

When he looked over once more, Tang Wan gave him a helpless look. “You can stare all you want tonight when we’re back, okay? For now, drive properly. There are zombies everywhere on the road.”

“Okay, okay.” Hu Tongxia nodded quickly, finally forcing himself to focus.

The roads were far from safe now. What used to be a short trip took them over three hours to complete.

When they finally arrived, Hu Tongxia had Tang Wan stay in the truck while he and a few others got out to clear the nearby zombies.

Once the area was secure, he called out, “Alright, get down. Start moving the grain.”

Everyone got off and entered the storage area. Though Tang Wan didn’t help carry the heavy sacks, she stayed alert, keeping watch. If any zombies wandered close, she would deal with them immediately to prevent anyone from getting injured.

After nearly two hours of work, all three trucks were fully loaded.

Just as everyone was catching their breath and preparing to leave, the sound of another vehicle approached.

Tang Wan’s expression sharpened instantly. She looked toward the source of the noise and called out, “Tongtong, someone’s coming!”

Hu Tongxia’s face darkened at once. He turned to the others. “Stop what you’re doing. Get in the trucks and guard the supplies.”

They had just finished loading everything. If someone drove off with their trucks now, all their effort would be wasted.
