Chapter 1022: Doomsday Big Boss 26
When the movie reached a scene where the male and female leads kissed, Hu Tongxia’s gaze flickered. He cleared his throat softly, then casually lifted his arm and wrapped it around Tang Wan’s shoulders. The moment her attention shifted slightly away from the screen, he leaned in and kissed her again, taking advantage of the moment as naturally as if it had been planned all along.
By the time the movie ended, nearly two
hours had passed. It was already close to ten at night.
No matter how reluctant he was, Hu Tongxia
couldn’t keep her any longer. “I’ll walk you back,” he said.
“Mm,” Tang Wan replied softly.
The two of them stood up, and he held her
hand as they walked toward her room. The air-raid shelter was large, but the
rooms weren’t far apart. From his room to hers was only a few dozen meters. Yet
somehow, that short distance felt unusually long to Hu Tongxia—as if he had
walked several kilometers.
When they reached her door, he stopped. “Go
in. Rest early. Good night.”
“Mm. Good night.” Tang Wan smiled at him
before turning and entering her room.
As soon as she was inside, Little Cutie
couldn’t help but complain, “You two really are actors. One better than the
other!”
Even it hadn’t expected Hu Tongxia to be
able to twist things so smoothly—turning all his previous hostility into
something like ‘I liked you, so I teased you’. Somehow, it even sounded
reasonable, like the classic “bickering lovers” trope.
Tang Wan raised an eyebrow. “You don’t
understand,” she said lazily. “Life is like a play, and it all depends on
acting. But no matter how you act, what matters is that your heart is genuine.”
Besides… she quite enjoyed acting with Tong
Tong.
Watching him make up serious nonsense with
a straight face was genuinely entertaining.
With that thought, she walked over to her
bed. Compared to the hard, simple bed she had before, this one was incredibly
comfortable. It was layered with soft bedding, covered with fine silk quilts,
and even had a neatly hung mosquito net—clearly arranged by Hu Tongxia himself.
When a man truly cares, he can be more
attentive than anyone else.
Just looking at this “aftercare service” of
his… it was honestly impressive.
Tang Wan lay down, closed her eyes, and
soon fell asleep.
…
Meanwhile, Hu Tongxia lingered outside her
door for a while before finally returning to his own room.
As he reached his door, his gaze fell on
the plate of vegetables resting on the iron rack nearby. After a brief pause,
he picked it up and carried it inside.
The vegetables had already gone cold.
But thinking that Tang Wan had made
them—and that in the future, he might often have to eat her cooking—he still
picked up his chopsticks and finished every last bite.
As he ate, he silently comforted himself: I’ll
probably be eating this kind of food often from now on. Better get used to it
early. Once I’m used to it, it won’t taste so bad anymore…
…
The next morning, Hu Tongxia didn’t sleep
well at all—his stomach had protested quite a bit after the cold vegetables.
But he still forced himself out of bed
before dawn. He wanted to see Tang Wan early… and more importantly, get her
some fresh, hot food before everything was gone.
After grabbing breakfast from the kitchen,
he headed straight toward her room.
At the same time, Tang Wan had already finished washing up and was about to head out. In the apocalypse, food was strictly rationed—if you went late, you’d be left with nothing but scraps.
