Chapter 1020: Doomsday Big Boss 24
“Are you forgetting someone?!” Hu Tongxia stared at Tang Wan, unable to hold back any longer as he prompted her anxiously. How could she not think of herself? Among everyone in the base, she was clearly the one closest to Liu Feifei. If she was going to guess, shouldn’t she think of herself first?
Tang Wan, however, deliberately looked confused. “Forgetting someone? No, I don’t think so.” Then, as if something suddenly occurred to her, her eyes widened slightly and she looked at him in shock.
Seeing that expression, Hu Tongxia’s heart leapt with anticipation. “Did you figure it out?” he asked quickly, a faint blush already creeping up his ears.
Tang Wan stared at him for a second, then leaned in closer, lowering her voice as if sharing some huge secret. “…Could it be… the person you like…” She paused, then whispered near his ear, “…is Xu Jintang?”
After saying that, she pulled back with a look of sudden realization, muttering to herself, “No wonder you’ve been arguing with him all the time—to get his attention! Why didn’t I think of that earlier?”
Hu Tongxia froze.
The next second, he grabbed her arm instinctively. “I don’t like men!” he blurted out. “What are you thinking?! Why don’t you think about yourself?!”
Tang Wan blinked and pointed at herself, looking completely baffled. “Me?”
Then her expression shifted again, this time into disbelief. “You—you mean… the person you were talking about just now… is me?” she asked, her tone trembling slightly as if she couldn’t quite believe it.
Hu Tongxia’s face was already flushed, but he still forced himself to nod, trying to appear calm. “Why can’t it be you?” he said. “I… I like you.”
Tang Wan was silent for a moment.
This confession… was certainly something.
Then, almost immediately, she lowered her gaze, a hint of shyness appearing as she spoke softly, “Is that so? Then… you have pretty good taste.”
She stole another glance at him before quickly looking away again, as if flustered.
Seeing this, Hu Tongxia felt his heart soften completely. She looked so… cute. For a moment, he even had the urge to pull her into his arms and rub her head. But afraid of scaring her off, he held himself back.
“I think my taste is pretty good too,” he said instead, his voice full of satisfaction. Then, after a brief pause, he added nervously, “What about you?”
“Hm?” Tang Wan continued to play dumb.
“What do you think of me?” Hu Tongxia asked, staring at her intently.
Tang Wan lowered her head slightly. “You’re… pretty good.”
The moment those words fell, Hu Tongxia’s eyes lit up. “Then… will you be with me?” he asked eagerly. “Don’t worry—I’ll treat you well!”
Tang Wan suddenly looked up at him. “Even if my cooking tastes bad, you’d still like it?”
Hu Tongxia was taken aback, then nodded so quickly it was almost comical. “Of course! No—your cooking isn’t bad at all! I like it! Really!”
At that, Tang Wan couldn’t help but laugh softly.
Then, under his nervous gaze, she said lightly, “Since you don’t mind my cooking… I’ll reluctantly agree.”
“Really? That’s great!” Hu Tongxia exclaimed, unable to contain his excitement. In the next moment, he reached out and pulled her into a hug, spinning her around in sheer joy.
