Chapter 1017: Doomsday Big Boss 21

After uncovering the truth, Tang Wan felt like her entire world had tilted slightly off balance.

Seeing her reaction, Little Cutie hurried to reassure her. “Host, your sense of taste is normal. There’s nothing wrong with it!”

“Then why couldn’t I taste the bitterness?” Tang Wan asked, still unwilling to believe it. If her tongue was fine, how could she have missed something so obvious?

“This… I’m not entirely sure,” Little Cutie admitted. “Maybe when you eat food you make yourself, there’s some kind of… filter? Like your brain removes the unpleasant taste?”

“How is that possible? What, my tongue has an automatic beautification function?” Tang Wan shot back immediately.

The next second, she pushed herself up from the bed. “No. I need to test this again.”

With that, she strode straight to the kitchen.

Inside, she grabbed a handful of vegetables, washed them quickly, and turned on the stove. Before long, a plate of stir-fried greens—bright and fresh-looking—was ready.

Tang Wan picked up her chopsticks and took a bite.

The taste wasn’t particularly amazing, but it seemed normal.

Still unconvinced, she carried the plate out and went to find Liu Feifei.

“Feifei, come try this for me,” she said.

Liu Feifei looked a little surprised but nodded. “Okay.”

She picked up the chopsticks and ate a piece.

Tang Wan watched her closely, not missing even the smallest change in expression.

As Liu Feifei chewed, a faintly strange look gradually appeared on her face.

Tang Wan’s heart sank.

“Well? How is it?” she asked.

“Um…” Liu Feifei hesitated. “Who made this?”

“Oh, I’m not sure,” Tang Wan replied smoothly. “Probably one of the cooks experimenting in the kitchen.”

Hearing that, Liu Feifei relaxed and lowered her voice. “To be honest… it’s not very good. The taste is kind of strange.”

The smile on Tang Wan’s face stiffened.

Not good?

So all this time—in previous worlds, when Tong Tong praised her cooking—it hadn’t actually tasted good at all?

No wonder he never let her cook after they got together.

After so long… she had only just discovered the truth.

“I see,” Tang Wan said after a moment, nodding. “I didn’t think it tasted that great either.”

With that, she took the plate and left.

Soon, she arrived at Hu Tongxia’s room.

The moment he saw her, his eyes lit up. “Tang Wan? You’re looking for me?”

It was already past seven. Before the apocalypse, this would’ve been the busiest part of the evening—but now, once it got dark, it was too dangerous outside. Most people had already gone back to rest.

So when Tang Wan showed up at his door at this hour, Hu Tongxia’s thoughts immediately began to wander.

Could it be… she wanted to spend some time alone with him?

At that thought, his ears turned slightly red.

If it were before, he might have brushed it off. But now… he found himself a little curious. Even a little expectant.

Of course, Tang Wan had no idea what he was imagining.

She simply held out the plate toward him. “Nothing special. I just made a dish of vegetables and wanted you to taste it.”

Then she handed him the chopsticks, her gaze steady and pressing.

“Take a bite.”

Hu Tongxia paused for a moment, then nodded quickly. “Alright.”

He picked up the chopsticks and took a bite.

The taste was—

Just as indescribable as before.

Yet at the same time… strangely familiar.
