Chapter 1011: Doomsday Big Boss 15
Hearing Tang Wan’s words, Hu Tongxia was momentarily stunned.
What?
She wasn’t interested in Xu Jintang?
Then what had all that been before? Why had she been sticking around him all the time?
“But… don’t you always talk to Xu Jintang?” he asked, frowning slightly. “And… look at him like that?”
“How do I look at him?” Tang Wan blinked innocently.
“Like that!” Hu Tongxia said, his heart skipping a beat as he tried to describe it. In his mind, those eyes of hers seemed to be “discharging electricity” at any moment.
Tang Wan’s lips twitched. “Like that? That’s just my normal expression.”
Not normal at all, Hu Tongxia muttered silently.
“Then why are you always around him?” he pressed.
Tang Wan paused, as if thinking, then suddenly seemed to come to a decision.
“Well… Xu Jintang has too many admirers,” she said slowly. “You know Feifei—she’s simple and trusting. She believes in him completely. What if some other woman tries to steal him away without her realizing?”
She tilted her head slightly, her tone turning matter-of-fact. “So I stay close to him to keep an eye on things. Think of it as… scouting the enemy.”
She added lightly, “Besides, I look like this. If Xu Jintang ever has a falling-out with Feifei, who’s to say he won’t waver and try something with me? If he dares, I’ll tell Feifei immediately and deal with him.”
Hu Tongxia: !!!
So that was her real intention?!
For a moment, he felt both shocked and vaguely awed.
Women were… terrifying.
But soon, a wave of relief spread through him. He quickly suppressed the inexplicable joy rising in his chest.
“So that’s how it is,” he said, nodding. “Looks like I really misunderstood you before.”
Tang Wan gave him a half-smile. “You must’ve thought I was trying to steal Feifei’s fiancé, right?”
At that, Hu Tongxia’s expression stiffened slightly, a trace of embarrassment flashing across his face.
But he quickly shook his head. “No. I just didn’t want you wasting your time on a man who’s not worth it.”
Tang Wan snorted inwardly.
Quick reaction.
Did he really think that would erase everything from before?
“But you still called me a hypocritical woman,” she said calmly.
Hu Tongxia froze for a moment.
Then, as if switching modes entirely, he put on a confused expression. “Did I? I don’t remember that at all. You’re so good and so beautiful—how could I say something like that? You must’ve misheard.”
Now it was Tang Wan’s turn to be speechless.
Wow.
He’d even mastered selective amnesia.
Still, she didn’t pursue it further. No need to ruin the atmosphere.
She flipped the roasting pigeon again, her attention returning to it. “Maybe I did hear wrong,” she said lightly. “I used to think you were annoying, always arguing with me. But today I realized—you’re actually pretty good.”
She paused, then added casually, “You’d make a very suitable boyfriend.”
Hu Tongxia’s heart stuttered.
“Re-really?” he asked, unable to hide the sudden spike in his pulse.
“Mm.” Tang Wan nodded, her tone calm and sincere. “You’re reliable. You make people feel safe.”
At that, Hu Tongxia was overjoyed.
On the surface, he tried to maintain a composed, modest expression—but it didn’t last long.
“Haha… hahaha!” he laughed, unable to hold it in. “You’re too kind! If you need anything in the future, just come to me!”
As he spoke, he couldn’t help but pat his chest confidently.
