Chapter 1007: Doomsday Big Boss 11

Seeing Hu Tongxia trailing behind her like that, Tang Wan couldn’t help but laugh inwardly. After walking for a short while, she slowed her pace slightly and said casually, “Are you busy this afternoon? If not… can you do me a favor?”

The moment the words left her mouth, Hu Tongxia’s heart jumped. His first instinct was to agree immediately, but something held him back. If he said yes too quickly, wouldn’t it look like he cared too much? So he deliberately put on a thoughtful expression and replied, “I’ll think about it. I still have training later this afternoon…”

Tang Wan saw through him at a glance.

“Oh, forget it,” she said lightly. “I’ll just ask someone else.”

The moment she said that, Hu Tongxia panicked.

“Wait—actually, I just remembered the training ground is closed today,” he added quickly, turning back to her. “I don’t need to go after all. What do you need? I’m free this afternoon.”

Tang Wan nodded as if considering it. “It’s nothing major. When we went out for supplies this morning, I saw a furniture store. I want to bring back a proper bed. The one I’m using now is too uncomfortable.”

Of course, she genuinely couldn’t stand the current living conditions—but more importantly, she needed a reason to keep interacting with him. The furniture store she had spotted earlier simply gave her the perfect excuse.

If it were before, Hu Tongxia would have definitely mocked her for being overly picky. In a world like this, having a place to sleep at all was already a blessing—who cared about what kind of bed it was?

But now, as his gaze swept over her smooth, fair skin, he found himself nodding without hesitation.

“No problem. I’ll drive a truck and take you there.”

Such delicate skin… it really didn’t belong on those rough, makeshift beds.

Seeing him agree so readily, Tang Wan smiled brightly. “Then I’ll have to thank you.”

For a moment, Hu Tongxia was almost dazzled by that smile. He coughed lightly and waved it off. “No need. It’s nothing. Leave it to me.”

Tang Wan tilted her head slightly, her tone turning teasing. “How is this ‘nothing’? It’s the apocalypse—there are zombies everywhere. Going out to move furniture is dangerous. I thought you’d mock me like before. I didn’t expect you to actually agree.”

She paused, then added meaningfully, “I thought you hated me. I figured you’d definitely refuse.”

Hearing this, Hu Tongxia immediately thought of how he had treated her in the past. His confidence wavered.

“Did I?” he said awkwardly. “We’re teammates. Why would I hate you?”

“Really?” Tang Wan’s lips curved into a faint, ambiguous smile.

Seeing that expression, Hu Tongxia felt a strange pressure for no reason. He quickly changed the subject. “Of course. Right—uh, I just remembered I have something to take care of. I’ll head back first. When you’re ready to go, call me. I’ll bring a couple more people along.”

“Alright,” Tang Wan replied with a nod.

Watching him retreat in a hurry, she couldn’t help but smile slightly before turning and walking back to her room at an unhurried pace.

After resting for about half an hour, it was already past two in the afternoon.

Tang Wan glanced at the time and got up to find Hu Tongxia.

By then, he had already gathered three other ability users. The moment he saw her, he stepped forward.

“Ready to go?” he asked.

Tang Wan nodded. “Mm. The furniture store is about five kilometers away. If we move quickly, we should be able to get back before five.”

“Alright. Let’s go.”

Hu Tongxia slung his coat over his shoulder and led the way out.
