Chapter 1006: Doomsday Big Boss 10
Hearing Tang Wan’s words, Hu Tongxia felt an immediate sense of relief. The fact that she was still willing to talk to him meant she wasn’t so annoyed that she wanted to ignore him completely. His mood lifted at once.
“Got it. I’ll pluck the feathers,” he said, even sounding a little pleased.
“Mm. Call me when you’re done. We’ll have roast pigeon tonight,” Tang Wan replied casually.
“Alright!”
After she left, Hu Tongxia wasted no time. He picked up the pigeon, humming under his breath as he quickly plucked the feathers, then cleaned out the insides with practiced efficiency. Once everything was handled, he didn’t linger and went straight to find Tang Wan.
At that moment, Tang Wan was quietly studying her abilities.
According to the original plot, the growth of supernatural abilities depended on both potential and training. The higher a person’s innate potential, the easier it was for them to evolve into higher levels, and the greater their capacity for improvement through cultivation. In about two months, when winter arrived, the zombies would begin to evolve. At that time, crystal cores would form in their brains—these would become the primary resource for ability users to advance, and competition for them would inevitably intensify.
But for Hu Tongxia, things were different.
His dark-element ability was extremely special. It was essentially the same type of power possessed by the future zombie king—except he had never gone through the stage of becoming a zombie himself. This unique ability would become his greatest advantage later on, allowing him to grow rapidly and even command zombies to oppose the male lead. For now, however, that potential remained undiscovered, even by him.
Just then, there was a knock at the door.
“Tang Wan, are you there? I’ve finished dealing with the pigeon!” Hu Tongxia called out.
Hearing this, Tang Wan couldn’t help but curl her lips slightly. See? Didn’t this work out perfectly? If she had thrown the pigeon away earlier in anger, would he be coming to find her now?
With that thought, she walked over and opened the door.
The moment it opened, her soft, peach-blossom eyes met his dark gaze. “Got it. I’ll marinate it now and roast it this afternoon,” she said lightly.
Hu Tongxia stood there for a moment, then slowly exhaled.
A strange thought surfaced in his mind—how had he never noticed before that Tang Wan could look this captivating? Just that single glance had nearly unsettled him.
Tang Wan stepped out and asked, “Where’s the pigeon? The meat’s fine, right?”
“It’s in the kitchen,” Hu Tongxia replied quickly, falling into step beside her. “I checked—it’s tender and fine to eat.”
“Alright.”
The two walked to the kitchen together. Looking at the cleaned pigeon, Tang Wan picked up the seasonings and began preparing it with practiced ease. She marinated it thoroughly, then wrapped it in foil and set it aside.
“Five o’clock. I’ll start roasting then. Come find me at the vegetable plot,” she said.
Hu Tongxia nodded, but his thoughts were elsewhere.
She looked like the kind of woman who could cause chaos wherever she went… yet she could cook, and well at that. Why hadn’t he ever noticed this before?
Seeing her about to leave again, he quickly followed after her without thinking, sticking close like a shadow.
