With Zuo Ran and Wei Liang’s appearance, the voices discussing Tang Guo around the cafeteria basically disappeared.

But from the disdainful glances they occasionally cast her way, it was still easy to tell that although they had stopped talking about her, who knew what they were actually thinking.

Apart from a pitifully small amount of rice, the two dishes Tang Guo had gotten were also particularly meager because of the cafeteria worker’s discrimination.

One of the dishes had originally been a meat dish, but thanks to the worker’s “special treatment,” there were only two slices of meat in it.

At Tang Guo’s age, she was still growing, so under normal circumstances, this amount of food simply wouldn’t be enough to fill her stomach.

Zuo Ran and Wei Liang had been in the cafeteria the whole time. They had heard other people discussing how the cafeteria staff were dissatisfied with Tang Guo and had deliberately reduced the portions they gave her.

So they ordered several more substantial dishes and brought them over, intending to lend her a helping hand.

After persuading her for quite some time, she had finally agreed to eat with them. That was a good start.

Moreover, they could clearly feel that the pretty girl in front of them seemed much less guarded around them, and her attitude was considerably friendlier.

However, she didn’t seem to accept their goodwill. She simply kept her head down and focused on eating from her own tray, never once taking any food from their trays.

The two exchanged glances, both feeling somewhat helpless. It was their first time encountering such a difficult girl.

Tang Guo quickly finished her meal. Neither of the two had eaten much, and as for the two newly ordered dishes, they had originally been prepared for her anyway.

Seeing that she had finished eating, Wei Liang hurriedly asked, “Are you already done? I didn’t even see you eat anything.” He glanced at the dishes in front of them. “Why don’t you eat a little more? There’s still a long afternoon ahead.”

“Yeah, since we’re friends, there’s nothing wrong with having a little more food. Eat some more.”

Tang Guo smiled at the two of them. “No, thank you. I’m already full.” She stood up. “I have a part-time job after school. If I eat too much, I won’t be able to fit into those particular outfits.”

The two naturally knew that she was doing part-time work. Unlike what the others had claimed, she wasn’t being kept by someone. She occasionally also did some print advertising.

As for the brand-name clothes and shoes she wore, which were considered luxury brands among students, they actually only cost one or two thousand yuan. They weren’t really luxury goods.

A necklace generally cost two or three thousand yuan as well. For a pretty girl who did part-time work as a print model, etiquette hostess, and event emcee, this amount of money was genuinely within her means.

As for who had started the rumor that she was being kept by someone or that she was selling herself, they had no idea.

What interested them was Tang Guo herself. Even during such an intense period of high school studies, she still went out to work part-time and dressed herself up so beautifully. It was obvious that she was a vain girl at heart.

What they wanted to see was her tearing off her disguise and revealing the same vain side as the other girls.

“I see. Then there’s not much we can say to persuade you.” Zuo Ran smiled faintly. “Where are you going to work after school? Are you going by yourself?”

“I usually go by myself.”

Wei Liang hurriedly asked, “Where is it? Let us see if it’s on our way. If it is, you can ride with us.”

“It’s not far from here. I can just ride my bicycle.”

Tang Guo looked at the two of them and added, “I’m going back to the classroom to do my homework now. I won’t have much time this afternoon, after all.”

After saying goodbye to the two of them, she left the cafeteria.

The two of them also hurriedly stood up and followed behind her. Wei Liang said, “We’ve eaten about enough too. Let’s go together.”
