Chapter 94: Cruel Prince 43

Tang Wan knew very well that inside a military camp, it was best for her not to wander around casually.

So after entering the tent, she had no intention of stepping outside even once.

She couldn’t help Feng Qitong very much,

but at the very least, she could avoid causing trouble for him.

...

Feng Qitong did not return until midnight.

By then, Tang Wan was already about to fall asleep.

The moment she heard movement outside, she immediately woke up and hurried forward to help remove his light armor.

“Husband, have you eaten yet?” Tang Wan asked.

Feng Qitong nodded.

“I already ate together with the generals inside the command tent.”

“What about you?”

Tang Wan nodded as well.

Then, after hanging up his armor, she walked toward the small stove and lifted the lid off the casserole that had been simmering there.

“I made chicken soup this afternoon.”

“Drink a bowl before sleeping.”

Seeing this, Feng Qitong’s eyes instantly became gentler.

...

After drinking the soup and washing up, Feng Qitong held Tang Wan in his arms as they lay together on the simple bed.

But this time, he had no intention of doing anything else.

After an entire afternoon of military discussions and investigations, he was already nearly certain—

there was a traitor among them.

Otherwise, the Seventh Prince’s battle strategies could not possibly have been seen through so easily.

Still, Feng Qitong wasn’t anxious.

No one could stir trouble beneath his watchful eyes.

And anyone who dared betray him—

he would make sure they died miserably.

...

On the seventh day after Tang Wan arrived at the border,

the horn of battle suddenly sounded in the middle of the night.

Feng Qitong instantly sprang upright from the bed.

Then he rushed toward the armor rack and rapidly began dressing himself.

Seeing this, Tang Wan became startled.

“Husband...”

“Don’t be afraid.”

“Continue sleeping,” Feng Qitong said before kissing her forehead quickly and hurrying out of the tent.

Watching him leave, Tang Wan couldn’t help sighing softly.

“Little Cutie, I think I finally understand what it means for someone to carry the burden of peace for others.”

“No wonder soldiers are called the greatest.”

“Without them, there wouldn’t be peace and stability.”

Hearing Tang Wan’s emotional words, Little Cutie immediately replied:

“Don’t worry.”

“He’ll definitely win.”

Tang Wan nodded.

“Mm. I believe him.”

...

The battle continued from midnight all the way until dawn the next day.

During that entire period, Tang Wan barely slept at all.

At that moment, the tent curtain was suddenly lifted open as Feng Qitong strode inside.

“Husband, you’re back?” Tang Wan immediately hurried over.

Very quickly, she smelled a thick scent of blood.

Feng Qitong lowered his gaze and stared directly at her.

Only then did Tang Wan realize something was wrong with his expression.

His eyes were faintly bloodshot.

Tang Wan’s heart immediately tightened.

Was his illness acting up again?

The next second, Feng Qitong suddenly pulled her violently into his arms before fiercely capturing her lips in a rough kiss.

Tang Wan inwardly cried out.

Was this man a wolf or something?

Still, she knew perfectly well that she absolutely couldn’t push him away right now.

Otherwise, things would definitely become troublesome.

So while responding to him, she wrapped her arms around his waist and gently patted his back soothingly.

After quite some time, Feng Qitong finally released her.

Most of the blood-red haze in his eyes had faded away.

...

“Ai Consort... Gu...” Feng Qitong had already regained much of his rationality.

Looking at Tang Wan’s reddened swollen lips, he suddenly felt slightly guilty.

Last night, after killing through the battlefield until dawn, he had felt as though a layer of blood mist still covered his vision.

The violent emotions in his chest had surged stronger than ever before.

The final thread of reason left in him had immediately driven him back to Tang Wan—

because only she could calm him down.

Seeing his expression, Tang Wan immediately glared at him angrily.

“Couldn’t you at least take a bath before kissing me?”

“Look at all the blood you got on my clothes!”

“Did you get injured anywhere?”

As she spoke, she reached up and began removing his armor piece by piece.

“Thankfully, I prepared hot water in advance.”

Then she called for the maids to prepare the bath.

Hearing her words, Feng Qitong suddenly wrapped his arms around her again.

Then he buried his face against her neck and deeply inhaled the familiar fragrance from her body.

It was wonderful.

She wasn’t angry at him.

But the more she treated him this way—

the less willing he became to ever let her go.

If hell truly existed,

then even if he had to descend into hell himself—

he would drag her down there together with him.
