Chapter 845: The Psychic Master 9
After the maid left, Tang Wan’s expression turned thoughtful.
“What exactly was she helping you with just now?” she asked calmly.
It wasn’t that she was overthinking—but given the He family’s traditions, she had every reason to be cautious. To preserve and strengthen their bloodline, the family often arranged for young members to grow close from an early age, allowing feelings to develop naturally.
While He Tongyang’s mother had resisted such arrangements, many others in the family had accepted them—and even formed genuine attachments because of it.
And now…
He Tongyang was at an age where such things could easily begin.
What if that maid had been deliberately assigned to him for that very purpose?
Hearing her question, He Tongyang answered obediently, “She just helps me wash my face, brush my teeth… and gives me baths…”
“What?!” Tang Wan exploded.
Baths?
Didn’t that mean he was being seen by another woman?
Unacceptable.
Seeing her sudden outburst, He Tongyang was startled. Confusion and unease immediately appeared on his face.
“Wanwan… are you… angry?” he asked carefully.
He truly didn’t understand what he had done wrong.
Seeing his cautious expression, Tang Wan took a slow breath, forcing herself to calm down. Her tone softened as she quickly adjusted her demeanor.
“I’m not angry,” she said gently. “Don’t be afraid.”
He Tongyang didn’t look convinced.
She had clearly been furious just a moment ago.
Left with no choice, Tang Wan clarified, “I’m not angry at you—I’m angry at your grandfather. You’re growing up now, yet he still lets others handle even your most basic needs. That’s not helping you become independent at all.”
He Tongyang blinked, then nodded uncertainly. “Oh…”
“So starting today,” Tang Wan continued seriously, “you have to learn to take care of yourself. Eat on your own, dress yourself—understand?”
“I understand!” He nodded immediately, his expression earnest.
Seeing how obedient he was, Tang Wan felt a wave of satisfaction, almost like a proud parent.
She then followed him into the bathroom, watching as he brushed his teeth and washed his face by himself.
“See? Didn’t you do just fine?” she said afterward.
Losing his memory didn’t mean he had lost the ability to take care of himself.
He Tongyang broke into a small, pleased smile. “Mm! I can do it myself!”
Then he placed a hand on his stomach and looked at her. “Wanwan… I’m hungry.”
“Then let’s go eat,” Tang Wan replied.
“Okay!”
When He Tongyang went downstairs on his own, Old Master He, who was already seated at the dining table, looked visibly surprised.
“Tongyang, why did you come down by yourself today?” he asked.
His gaze then shifted toward the maid.
“Master… the Young Master wouldn’t let me assist him,” she said nervously.
Hearing this, Old Master He turned back to He Tongyang, his expression thoughtful.
He Tongyang sat down and said straightforwardly, “Wanwan told me I should learn to be independent.”
Those words made Old Master He stiffen.
After a brief pause, he carefully probed, “The… ancestor is still here?”
Yesterday, after sending off Doctor Huang, he had wanted to come back and ask more questions—but by then, He Tongyang had already fallen asleep, and he hadn’t dared to disturb him.
He had assumed that once she confirmed Tongyang was not in serious danger, the ancestor would have already left.
But judging from the current situation…
She was still here.
And still watching over his grandson.
