Chapter 844: The Psychic Master 8
After going through the images, Tang Wan grew more and more satisfied the longer she looked.
“Not bad,” she commented approvingly. “People in your era are quite talented. Even background images can look like scenes from a sci-fi blockbuster.”
As she spoke, she quickly selected several backgrounds she liked and began pairing them with different angles of He Tongyang’s sleeping face, clicking away enthusiastically.
By the time night had fully fallen outside, she finally told the system to stop.
Once the photos were done, however, Tang Wan found herself with nothing to do.
As a ghost, she didn’t need sleep—but without it, the long hours stretched on endlessly, leaving her with little to occupy herself.
Noticing her boredom, the system seized the opportunity and spoke up cautiously, lowering its voice as if sharing a secret. “Host… I heard that once a system reaches a higher level, you can connect to the star network through it and access all kinds of entertainment…”
Tang Wan’s eyes immediately lit up. “Really? You’re not lying to me?”
“Of course not!” the system said quickly. “I heard it from Ergouzi—there’s absolutely no way it’s fake!”
Tang Wan considered this for a moment before replying, “Fine. I’ll use the upgrade package on you. But if what you said isn’t true… you know what will happen.”
“I swear it’s true!” the system replied at once. “If I’m lying, let the main system format me!”
For a system, that oath carried as much weight as a human swearing on their life.
Seeing how resolute it sounded, Tang Wan gave a small nod. “Alright. I understand.”
With that, she confirmed the use of the upgrade package.
The system was so excited it practically wanted to kneel in gratitude. “Host! I’ll start the upgrade now. You can play something to pass the time!”
“Mm.”
In the next moment, the system disappeared completely.
Left alone, Tang Wan lay beside He Tongyang and soon became engrossed in a simple game the system had left behind.
It was unexpectedly fun.
By the time morning arrived, He Tongyang woke up—but the system had yet to finish upgrading.
Tang Wan didn’t mind. Once the upgrade was complete, it would definitely come running back to her immediately.
The moment He Tongyang opened his eyes, he saw Tang Wan beside him.
After a brief moment of confusion, his eyes brightened. “Wanwan! You really stayed with me!”
“Of course,” Tang Wan replied with a faint smile. “I always keep my word. Did you sleep well?”
“Mm!” He nodded.
At that moment, there was a knock on the door. “Young Master, are you awake?” a voice called from outside.
“I’m awake!” He Tongyang replied instinctively.
The door opened shortly after, and a neatly dressed maid walked in. “Young Master, I’ll help you wash up,” she said respectfully.
Ever since he lost his memory, the maid had been responsible for taking care of his daily needs. Hearing her words, he was about to agree—but Tang Wan’s expression turned stern.
“Tong Tong,” she said firmly, “you’re already grown. How can you let someone else handle something so simple?”
Internally, she snorted.
My future husband doesn’t need another woman taking care of him.
He Tongyang immediately looked troubled, as if he had done something wrong. “Then… what should I do?”
“I’ll teach you,” Tang Wan said without hesitation. “Tell her to leave.”
He nodded obediently and turned to the maid, who was already feeling uneasy.
“I’ll do it myself. You can go out,” he said.
The maid froze for a moment before quickly coming back to her senses. “Y-Yes, Young Master!”
She bowed slightly, then hurried out of the room.
Although she had long known about the He family’s dealings—and that He Tongyang had the ability to see spirits—actually witnessing him speak to empty air was something else entirely.
It was deeply unsettling.
