Chapter 843: The Psychic Master 7
After finishing the examination, Doctor Huang clearly had no intention of staying any longer. He quickly packed up his medical kit and snapped it shut.
Seeing this, Old Master He said politely, “Thank you for your trouble, Doctor Huang.”
“You’re too kind,” Doctor Huang replied at once.
With that, he picked up his kit and made a prompt exit from He Tongyang’s room. Old Master He followed shortly after, not forgetting to respectfully greet the unseen Tang Wan on the sofa before leaving as well.
Soon, the room fell quiet.
He Tongyang turned to look at Tang Wan, his expression curious and innocent. “Wanwan… why can only I see you?”
Seeing the clear confusion in his eyes, Tang Wan drifted closer to him. This time, she gathered a bit of ghostly energy in her hand and gently pinched his cheek.
Her fingers didn’t pass through.
Instead, they made proper contact.
“Because,” she said with a soft smile, “Tongtong is the most special person to me. That’s why only you can see me.”
The touch felt surprisingly good.
As expected of a child raised with the finest care in the He family—even his skin was delicate and smooth.
As she continued to lightly pinch his cheek, He Tongyang’s eyes gradually brightened, his gaze turning soft and full of trust—almost like a small animal looking at its favorite person.
Tang Wan’s lips twitched.
…Did he really start treating her like a grandmother?
He Tongyang nodded seriously. “I see. Then I’ll treat Wanwan as the most special person too.”
“Really?” Tang Wan asked, a hint of delight creeping into her tone.
“Mm!” He nodded firmly.
A trace of satisfaction appeared on Tang Wan’s face.
“Alright, you should get some rest now. Look at your eyes—they’re already dark underneath,” she said gently.
Over the past few days, because the original owner had constantly frightened him, He Tongyang hadn’t dared to sleep properly at night.
Hearing her words, he hesitated. “But… when I sleep, scary things appear…”
Tang Wan immediately reassured him, her voice soft but steady. “Don’t worry. I’ll stay here with you. Sleep peacefully—I’ll guard you.”
Only then did He Tongyang relax.
He climbed onto the bed and lay down obediently. Tang Wan pulled the blanket over him, tucking him in.
Even so, he kept his eyes open, repeatedly glancing at her as if afraid she might disappear the moment he closed them.
A few minutes passed.
He opened his eyes again.
Tang Wan felt both helpless and a little heartbroken. Floating closer, she settled beside his bed and said softly, “Close your eyes. I’m right here.”
He gave a small “mm” in response.
This time, he didn’t open his eyes again.
Before long, his breathing grew steady as he finally drifted into sleep.
Once he was fully asleep, Tang Wan immediately called out to the system. “Little Cutie, take pictures of him—from every angle.”
The system froze for a moment, then couldn’t help blurting out, “Host… don’t you think you look a bit like a pervert right now?”
Tang Wan raised a brow.
“…Did you forget who you’re talking to?” she said coolly. “What’s wrong with taking pictures of my future husband?”
Besides, she was a ghost now.
Life as a ghost was unbearably dull—couldn’t she at least find some entertainment for herself?
The system faltered under her stare. Thinking about the upgrade reward, it quickly changed its tone.
“I didn’t mean anything else!” it said hastily. “I just remembered—I downloaded some new background scenes. You could use them to make nicer pictures for him!”
Tang Wan’s eyes lit up instantly.
“Oh? Show me.”
“Right away!” the system replied, immediately pulling up a series of background images for her to choose from.
