Chapter 725: The Dark Sentinel 36

The moment Tang Wan realized the real reason behind Zheng Wenjun’s loss of control, she instinctively looked toward Ellivis, shock flashing across her eyes.

That single glance made Ellivis’s heart sink.

His hands clenched tightly at his sides as he forced himself to stay calm. He absolutely could not let Tang Wan expose the truth. If she revealed that Zheng Wenjun had used forbidden enemy technology to forcibly break through to 3S level, then everything they had built over the past ten years would collapse instantly. Not only would their status be stripped away, they might even be branded as traitors to the empire.

The thought alone made his breathing turn uneven.

And then, as Tang Wan turned her attention back to Zheng Wenjun, continuing to stabilize his spiritual domain, a vicious thought surged through Ellivis’s mind.

“Wenjun, attack Lu Tong,” he transmitted directly through their spiritual link.

As Zheng Wenjun’s sentinel, he still retained that connection. Even though Zheng Wenjun had just regained a fragment of clarity, the deep-rooted instinct of a guide to trust and obey their sentinel remained. Almost unconsciously, Zheng Wenjun mobilized his mental power and directed it toward Lu Tong.

Lu Tong’s expression darkened instantly.

At that exact moment, Ellivis moved.

He drew his weapon and fired at Tang Wan without hesitation.

She had to die.

If she lived, then both he and Zheng Wenjun were finished.

Everything they had fought for, everything they had gained, would vanish in an instant. There was no way he would allow that outcome.

But Tang Wan had already sensed his intent.

The instant Ellivis raised his weapon, a cold sneer appeared on her lips. Without hesitation, she withdrew her spiritual threads.

If he wanted to kill her, then he could forget about her continuing to stabilize Zheng Wenjun. Let him collapse completely.

The bullet shot toward her with lethal precision.

Before it could reach her, Lu Tong moved.

Like a flash of lightning, he appeared in front of Tang Wan, raising his hand and catching the incoming bullet mid-air. The specialized round, designed to shatter a guide’s mental defenses, was stopped effortlessly between his fingers.

Ellivis froze, disbelief written across his face.

Then, with a sharp metallic sound, Lu Tong flicked the bullet away.

“Ding!”

The projectile changed direction under the force, accelerating once more, but this time its target shifted.

Straight toward Zheng Wenjun.

A dull tearing sound followed as the bullet pierced directly through his forehead. Zheng Wenjun let out a muffled sound before collapsing.

Ellivis stood there, stunned, his mind blank.

In the next instant, Lu Tong’s foot lashed out, striking him cleanly. The impact sent Ellivis crashing into the wall with a heavy thud.

Lu Tong didn’t spare them another glance.

He immediately turned back to Tang Wan, pulling her into his arms as his expression filled with suppressed anger and urgency. “Wanwan, are you hurt?”

Tang Wan shook her head quickly, her voice gentle as she reassured him, “I’m fine. Don’t worry, Tongtong.”

Only then did Lu Tong release a quiet breath, though the coldness in his eyes deepened as he looked toward the fallen figures. “There’s definitely something wrong with those two.”

Without delay, he activated his communicator and notified the upper levels of the White Tower.

When the senior officials arrived and saw the scene before them, they were completely stunned.

Their gazes moved between the motionless bodies of Ellivis and Zheng Wenjun and the calm yet dangerous presence of Lu Tong and Tang Wan.

Finally, one of them spoke, his voice tight with confusion.

“Admiral Lu, Admiral Tang… what exactly happened here?”
