Chapter 711: The Dark Sentinel 22
Hearing Lu Tong’s words, Tang Wan took the small, button-like object with curiosity.
She sent a thread of mental power into it to explore, and in the very next second, her expression changed slightly. With a flick of her consciousness, a compact laser gun was drawn out through her spiritual thread.
So space storage technology has already reached this level.
She couldn’t help but feel a little impressed.
But soon, without hesitation, she placed the space button back into Lu Tong’s hand. “Tongtong, you should keep this,” she said lightly. “You’re always by my side anyway. I don’t really need it, it’s more practical for you to use it.”
Lu Tong paused for a moment, then looked at her, a faint smile appearing on his usually indifferent face. “Keep it. I already have one.”
The fact that she thought of him first, even with something useful like this, stirred a quiet warmth in him.
Tang Wan nodded. “Alright then.”
Then, as if suddenly noticing something, she looked at him with bright eyes and said with a grin, “But Tongtong, you look really good when you smile. You should smile more at me in the future.”
Lu Tong’s expression stiffened instantly.
He wasn’t used to smiling, let alone being told to do so.
But when he met her expectant gaze, soft and full of warmth, he still nodded seriously. “I understand.”
If she liked it, then he would do it more.
As long as it didn’t frighten her.
The next day, the two set off for Emperor Star.
Upon arrival, they were quickly received and escorted to a grand building in the imperial capital. As soon as they entered, a young man in uniform stepped forward, his eyes shining with excitement.
“Admiral Tang, Admiral Lu, His Majesty is already waiting for you. Please follow me.”
The way he looked at them made it obvious he saw them as something close to legends.
Tang Wan couldn’t help but smile faintly at that.
They entered the elevator and were taken to the emperor’s floor. The moment the doors opened, a young man with a gentle smile was already waiting outside.
“Admiral Tang, Admiral Lu, you’ve arrived. Welcome.”
This was Emperor Zhou Haochen.
Perhaps because of a faint resemblance to someone familiar, Tang Wan found herself feeling an instinctive sense of ease toward him.
She returned the smile politely. “Your Majesty came personally to receive us.”
Zhou Haochen shook his head with a light laugh. “Admiral Tang is too courteous. It’s only proper.”
He then led them into the reception room.
After some brief formalities, the atmosphere gradually shifted. The emperor’s expression grew more serious as he looked at them.
“I believe you are already aware,” he began, “that the enemy nation has successfully cultivated multiple double S-level guides.”
Tang Wan and Lu Tong both nodded.
“This development puts us at a severe disadvantage,” he continued. “Fortunately, Admiral Tang’s breakthrough has come at a critical moment. It has given us… hope.”
His gaze settled firmly on Tang Wan.
“So this time, I will have to rely on you. Whatever you need, you may say it. I will do everything within my power to provide it.”
No one truly understood the full potential of a 3S-level guide.
But that uncertainty only made her more important.
He had no intention of risking her loyalty.
Tang Wan smiled calmly, her tone steady. “Your Majesty overestimates me. As a citizen of the empire, it is only natural for me to protect it. Even without being asked, I would do the same.”
She paused briefly, then added, “If there is something I require, it would be the most advanced weapons available. Only then can Tongtong and I ensure our safety to the greatest extent.”
Her answer was simple, but clear.
Everything she asked for… was tied to survival.
And to him.
