Chapter 704: The Dark Sentinel 15
Lu Tong felt it clearly.
That subtle, restless pull within his body was not something he could ignore.
Tang Wan, whose physique was far more delicate, naturally felt it even more intensely. A faint, unfamiliar throbbing lingered beneath her calm exterior, making her unusually aware of his presence. Once she realized what that strange sensation meant, she could not help but lift her eyes and glance at him quietly.
At the same moment, Lu Tong was already looking at her.
His gaze was sharp, focused, and carried a faint sense of danger, as if he were watching prey that could be seized at any time.
Tang Wan’s heart trembled under that look. Almost instinctively, she shrank back slightly, her body tensing in response.
Then, as if satisfied with her reaction, Lu Tong spoke in a calm, almost domineering tone. “Since we’ve already registered, you’ll stay by my side from now on. At all times. Including at night.”
To him, this was completely natural.
Although he did not rely on a guide to maintain control, having one undeniably made everything easier. And for a pair with perfect compatibility, close proximity was not just beneficial, it was necessary.
His request… was reasonable.
Tang Wan lowered her gaze slightly, a hint of embarrassment appearing on her face before she nodded. “Alright.”
Seeing her agree so readily, Lu Tong felt an inexplicable sense of ease settle within him.
“I’m going to take a shower,” he said. “Look around if you want. If there’s anything you’d like to change, just contact the construction team.”
“Okay,” Tang Wan replied with a small smile.
After Lu Tong disappeared into the bathroom, she leaned back against the sofa and let out a quiet sigh. Then she raised her hand and brought up the room’s structural layout, quickly selecting a range of furnishings with warmer tones. The cold, dim atmosphere of the space did not suit her at all.
Just as she was finishing, her neural interface flickered with an incoming communication request.
“Master, based on the registered identity, this call is from a senior White Tower official, Sebastian,” the system prompted.
Tang Wan’s eyes shifted slightly as she accepted the call.
A middle-aged man appeared on the screen, his expression composed yet courteous. “Hello, Admiral Tang. I am Sebastian. His Majesty wishes to meet both you and Lu Tong. May I ask when you would be available to travel to Emperor Star?”
Tang Wan immediately smiled, her tone gentle and polite. “I am available at any time. However, Lu Tong may not be. He’s currently in the middle of something. Once he’s finished, you can ask him directly. I’ll follow his arrangements.”
Her answer was careful.
She had no intention of making a decision alone. Whether this invitation was genuine or carried hidden intent was still unclear, and she would not risk acting rashly.
Sebastian nodded, clearly understanding her stance. “Very well. I will contact General Lu in an hour.”
“Of course. Thank you,” Tang Wan replied.
After the call ended, Tang Wan’s expression relaxed slightly. She turned her attention inward and asked, “Little Cutie, what kind of person is the emperor in this world? Do we have complete information yet?”
Little Cutie responded quickly, “Don’t worry, host. The empire has no reason to act against you now. The enemy nation has developed a large number of double S-level guides, so the empire needs you as its strongest countermeasure. His Majesty likely wants to meet you because of this.”
Tang Wan nodded faintly, her tension easing. “That makes sense.”
After all, a single 3S-level guide was enough to shift the balance of power. Unless the emperor was completely irrational, his priority would be to secure her loyalty, not undermine it.
About ten minutes later, the sound of the bathroom door opening drew her attention.
Lu Tong stepped out, dressed in loose white silk sleepwear. His black hair was still damp, droplets of water trailing down the strands and catching faint light as they fell.
The thin fabric clung lightly to his frame, outlining the clean lines of his physique without effort.
Tang Wan’s gaze lingered on him for a brief moment before she quickly looked away, her expression returning to normal as if nothing had happened.
But the air between them had quietly changed.
