Chapter 702: The Dark Sentinel 13
By the time Tang Wan and Lu Tong left the laboratory, the tension of the earlier tests had already faded. As they stepped back into the open square, Tang Wan immediately leaned closer to him, her eyes bright with excitement.
“Tongtong, the test results… are they really okay?” she asked, her tone unable to hide her anticipation.
Lu Tong glanced at her, and the corners of his lips lifted ever so slightly. “Yeah. There shouldn’t be any problem.”
The moment she heard that, Tang Wan’s expression lit up completely. “That’s great! I was worried I’d hold you back before, but now I don’t have to worry anymore!” she said with a cheerful smile.
Lu Tong’s gaze softened slightly as he looked at her. “Don’t worry. No matter what happens, I’ll protect you.”
The words came out naturally, as if it were the most obvious truth in the world.
Tang Wan’s heart skipped unexpectedly at his tone. For a brief moment, she felt something warm spread through her chest. Then she looked up at him, her eyes sparkling like they were filled with stars. “Tongtong, when you say that, I really feel safe. I’m so happy.”
Inside, she could not help but laugh to herself. Who had said that Lu Tong was cold and ruthless? This man was clearly warm to the point of being unfair.
Lu Tong was momentarily stunned by her expression. Her eyes were too bright, too direct, and it made something stir within him that he was not used to dealing with. He looked away briefly, then glanced back at her again, his voice lowering slightly.
“Should we go to the registration center now?” he asked, a hint of hesitation in his tone.
Once they registered, their relationship would be officially recognized. They would no longer just be a matched pair. They would be bound in every sense.
Tang Wan blinked in surprise for a second, then nodded immediately. “Of course! Let’s go quickly. What if they close soon?”
Seeing how eager she looked, Lu Tong felt his mood lift subtly.
Without wasting another moment, the two of them headed straight toward the registration center.
When they arrived, the staff inside were momentarily stunned upon seeing Lu Tong. His reputation within the White Tower was not something anyone could ignore. A sentinel quickly stepped forward, trying to maintain composure.
“General Lu… what brings you here?” the man asked.
“Registration,” Lu Tong replied simply.
“Ah, yes, please come this way…” the sentinel said automatically, gesturing for them to proceed.
But just as he finished speaking, his mind caught up with what had just been said.
Registration?
Marriage?
General Lu… had found a guide?
The realization hit him like a shock.
By then, however, Tang Wan and Lu Tong had already walked past him and reached the registration terminal.
The process itself was surprisingly smooth. Their identities were verified, their compatibility confirmed once again, and within a short time, their records were officially linked.
From that moment on, their accounts were bound together, and their neural systems were fully open to one another.
This level of connection was only possible for sentinel-guide pairs with perfect compatibility. Without absolute trust and complete mental synchronization, such openness would never be allowed.
As soon as the connection was established, a notification appeared in Tang Wan’s mind.
“Master, your account balance is now 1,000,000,000,000 star credits.”
Tang Wan froze.
Her eyes widened slightly as she stared at the string of zeros, her mind going blank for a moment.
That number… was almost blinding.
She immediately looked up at Lu Tong, her expression filled with disbelief. “Tongtong… why did you transfer so much money to me?”
Lu Tong’s expression remained as calm as ever. “I don’t really spend money. It just sits there. If you want anything, just buy it. I’ll earn more later.”
Inwardly, however, even he found the situation somewhat unfamiliar. After earning so much over the years, he had never imagined there would come a day when he would willingly hand it all over to someone else.
Tang Wan’s expression instantly became radiant. “Tongtong, you’re so good to me!”
She could not help but feel amused. Handing over all his money right after getting married? This level of awareness was almost too perfect.
Hearing her praise, Lu Tong felt a faint warmth rise to his ears, though his face remained composed. “It’s nothing. Protecting a guide and providing for them is only natural.”
Of course, he would never admit that he had no idea how else to make her happy. If money worked, then he would simply use more of it.
Judging from her current reaction, however, it seemed to be quite effective.
Looking at her bright, delighted expression, she reminded him of a small cat dazzled by glittering treasure, soft, lively, and irresistibly endearing.
For a fleeting moment, he had the urge to pull her into his arms and hold her tightly.
