Chapter 692-3: The Dark Sentinel 3-4

The disturbance on Tang Wan’s side quickly attracted attention.

After all, the clash of mental power just now had been too obvious. Several sentinels nearby turned their heads almost at the same time, their expressions shifting from idle curiosity to genuine surprise.

“Carl is an A-level sentinel, and she actually rejected him?” someone said in disbelief.

“That’s not even the main point,” another added, his gaze fixed on Tang Wan. “Carl’s mental strength is higher than most guides here. He just forced his way into several guides’ spiritual realms, and none of them could resist. But this one… she didn’t just block him, she crushed his mental body.”

The surrounding people fell silent for a moment.

That single fact was enough to change their perception. It meant that Tang Wan’s mental power was far beyond Carl’s, otherwise she could never have repelled him so cleanly. For a time, many sentinels began to look at her with renewed interest, their earlier indifference completely gone.

Tang Wan, however, paid no attention to them. After dealing with Carl, she simply bent down and picked up her mental body, holding the snow-white Persian cat in her arms. Her fingers moved lazily through its soft fur, and the cat immediately relaxed, half-closing its eyes as it nestled against her, looking extremely comfortable and satisfied.

Seeing this, Tang Wan couldn’t help curling her lips slightly. Then she asked inwardly, “Little Cutie, what about the original owner? What was her mental body?”

She was still a little concerned about whether there would be any mismatch.

Little Cutie quickly replied, “The original host didn’t have a manifested mental body. Her mental strength was average, so she couldn’t materialize one.”

Tang Wan paused, then twitched the corner of her mouth. “So… she was basically useless among guides?”

“You could say that,” Little Cutie admitted, “but guides are rare, so even a weaker one is still valuable.”

Tang Wan fell silent for a moment, then nodded slightly. Understood. Even waste had its use here.

Her gaze fell again on the Persian cat in her arms, her fingers still idly stroking its fur. “But judging from their reaction just now, that Carl guy should be considered strong, right? Yet my mental body beat him so easily… does that mean my mental power is actually very strong?”

Little Cutie immediately lifted his tone proudly. “Of course it is! Compared to you, the guides here are nothing. Your mental power is definitely the strongest in the empire.”

Tang Wan blinked, slightly surprised. “That exaggerated?”

“It’s not exaggerated at all,” Little Cutie said. “Every time you complete a mission world, your mental strength increases. Especially in high-intensity worlds. You’ve experienced more than a dozen already, so your accumulated spiritual power has long surpassed the guides here.”

Tang Wan was briefly stunned. “So doing missions actually has this kind of benefit?”

“Of course,” Little Cutie replied matter-of-factly. “Otherwise how would your soul withstand repeated world transfers and resurrections? The system doesn’t let you work for nothing.”

Tang Wan did not think too deeply about it, but a smile quickly spread across her face. “If that’s the case, you should have told me earlier. I would have been even more motivated.”

Still, she had taken every mission seriously anyway. Otherwise, she would not have reached this level now.

Little Cutie secretly let out a breath of relief when he saw her reaction, deciding not to say anything more.

At this moment, a tall young man with black hair walked toward her. His demeanor was calm and polite, completely different from Carl’s arrogance. When he reached her, he gave a slight nod and said gently, “Hello. My name is Zhou Qi. May I request a compatibility test with you?”

The surrounding sentinels immediately quieted down, their attention once again focused on Tang Wan.
