Chapter 581:The Lonely Top Student 44
Hearing the police, Jiao’s mother and the others froze.
For a split second, no one reacted.
Then she hurriedly hid the kitchen knife behind her back and forced a smile.
“Misunderstanding! This is all a misunderstanding, Comrade! We were just disciplining the child—there’s no murder!”
Before the officers could respond, Tang Wan stepped forward sharply.
“That’s nonsense! Tong Tong isn’t even your biological child—he was kidnapped! I heard everything!”
Her voice was firm, righteous.
Jiao’s mother’s expression twisted instantly as she glared at her.
“Tang Wan! Don’t spout nonsense! Who said we abducted him?”
Just moments ago, she had been pleased with this “girlfriend.”
Now?
She wished she could tear her apart.
…
Tang Wan let out a cold laugh and rushed to Jiao Tong’s side.
With one swift motion, she tore off the talisman stuck to him.
“Whether he’s yours or not—DNA testing will tell,” she said.
Then she quickly checked him over.
“Tong Tong, are you hurt?”
Jiao Tong pulled her into his arms and shook his head.
“I’m fine. You came just in time.”
Tang Wan instinctively wanted to pat his back—but remembered her “destructive touch” and stopped herself, holding back.
…
At that moment, the third uncle spoke coldly while holding his phone.
“I want to call my lawyer.”
One of the officers replied evenly,
“You have that right. But everything you say now can be used as evidence in court.”
He glanced at the scene—knife, talismans, chaos.
Did they think we were blind?
…
Soon, the entire Jiao family was restrained and taken away.
As she was being escorted out, Jiao’s mother shot them a venomous glare.
“Just you wait!”
Tang Wan sneered.
“That’s assuming you even get out of prison.”
“You—!” Jiao’s mother was trembling with rage.
…
After the arrests, an officer turned to them more gently.
“You two will need to come with us to give statements.”
They both nodded.
Tang Wan slipped her gloves back on, and the two walked out hand in hand.
…
That night, after everything was settled, Tang Wan brought Jiao Tong home.
When her parents saw him, they were momentarily stunned.
Then their expressions softened instantly.
“Xiao Jiao, you’re here! Come in, come in.”
Once inside, Tang Wan quickly explained everything that had happened.
Finally, she added firmly:
“Mom, Dad—Tong Tong is my boyfriend. Your future son-in-law. You can’t just ignore this!”
Tang’s mother shot her an annoyed glance.
“As if you even need to say that!”
Then she turned to Jiao Tong, her tone instantly gentle.
“Don’t be afraid, Xiao Jiao. Your uncle and aunt will handle this matter. You’re safe with us.”
Tang’s father was equally indignant.
“That’s right! We’ll take care of it. I’ve seen a lot in my life, but this—this is the first time I’ve heard of raising a living person as a vessel for the dead! It’s outrageous!”
He shook his head, anger still evident.
“If everyone acted like this, the world would be in chaos.”
…
Standing there, Jiao Tong looked at them—then at Tang Wan beside him.
For the first time in years, the weight in his chest felt completely lifted.
He wasn’t alone anymore.
